Hip-Hop, Videos | Kinetics — Make It Work (feat. Accent & Missy Modell) [Music Video]

Fresh off the heels of releasing his captivating new mixtape, With A Little Help From My FriendsKinetics drops off a big treat in the form of the Jon Kilmer-directed visual to “Make It Work”, featuring New York City’s Accent and Missy Modell. In contrast to the nebulous and conceptual “Cosmic Consciousness” (the mixtape’s first release), “Make It Work” features clean shots of Kinetics and Accent as they blaze through their verses with multisyllabic and poignant rhymes, pleading a relationship back to health over the powerful and melodic piano of Ages’ instrumental. Kilmer provides strong visual treatment to the first instance of Kinetics and Accent on camera together, though their work together spans more than half a decade. Accent’s feature here is one of four on the mixtape, and gives RA the Rugged Man and other hip-hop royalty a run for their money for best guest spot on the project. Be on the lookout for Accent’s new mixtape Sight & Sound dropping August 23rd, and Kinetics & One Love’s full-length album You Are Not Alone, which hits iTunes on August 28th.

Dubstep | Adventure Club- Need Your Heart (Cry Wolf YOLO Remix)

Posted by on August 8, 2012

Adventure Club gets the remix of a century by Cry Wolf and its one for the books. CRY goes ham on this remix busting out funk and dubstep in one fell swoop. I am honestly confused as to what to label this as. If you don’t download then its your really effing huge loss. Like you win some and you lose some, but like you’d be the loser. I’m not saying, I’m just saying. LIKE WHAT IS THAT BASS GUITAR DOING?! It’s blowing your f**king mind betch.

Electronic, Glitch, Preview | Haywyre – Draw The Line EP (Preview)

Posted by on August 6, 2012

Haywyre is on FIRE! After just releasing his third successful EP of 2012, he already has a forth EP not set for release. The previews available for the upcoming EP, “Draw The Line,” sound incredible, making me even more impatient for its August 28th release. The title track absolutely blew my mind, Haywyre’s composition has always been incredible, but this track feels like he really pushed the limits of the line that is being drawn out. There is no stopping this guy, his last release “Infinite” stormed up the charts on Beatport. It feels like only a matter of time before Haywyre’s popularity explodes.

Hip-Hop | G-Eazy-Plastic Dreams (Feat. Johanna Fay)

Posted by on July 25, 2012

The melodies, the back-up vocals, the tune, the beat. G-Eazy never really fails to deliver, but with his new drop “Plastic Dreams” it’s palpable how good he has gotten. This Bay Area artist has transcended the bay whomp and southern drop to create his own genre. Available on all of his releases, G-Eazy does not just focus on himself as he ties in all aspects of the song. This is a co-ed acceptable piece that goes beyond girl fire and won’t disappoint the heavier rap fanatics. So grab an ice cube, some Knob Creek bourbon, a velvet chaise lounge and get it in.

Electro | Paper Diamond – Time Flies

Posted by on July 19, 2012

Ever since I saw Papaer Diamond at Red Rocks, I have been chomping at the bit for his next release, so when I saw this pop up in my inbox I had to share. “Time Flies” is an epic track from Paper Diamond and Russ B which features definitive hip-hop flavor, lots of heavy bass, and melodic electro underpinnings. Along with Paper Diamond’s trademark lightheartedness, Russ B’s vocals effortlessly flow over the track. Paper Diamond is on the rise, becoming a well-respected mainstay in the electronic community. A great song to help make your Thursday just that much better…Friday is just around the corner.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Chiddy Bang – Paper and Plastic

Posted by on July 18, 2012

Chiddy Bang is here once more, a fellow Northfield Mount Hermon psuedo-alumni, him, Converse and Xaphoon create a dope mix of synths and spits. The drums behind the rhymes chill like another member of the band. It’s all around a good song to cruise to late at night. Maybe a preview of a harder Chiddy Bang…who the ef knows.
