Albums, Exclusive, Featured, Progressive House | FNT Premiere: Sgt Slick – Everyday (Dave Winnel Vicious21 Remix) From Vicious 21

21 years of vicious

Vicious Recordings is turning 21 this year and celebrate this momentous occasion, they have compiled 21 classics and 21 new remixes of songs that represent the storied history of the label. In a genre that has only been around for about 35 years, it is all to often we see labels, clubs and other institutions fade into obscurity after a short run on top. To remain one of the great labels, riding the highs and lows of the industry and remaining a consistent force at discovering new talent and promoting great music throughout the years. Based in Australia, just a few of the guys the label has helped break include Avicii, Dirty South, Peking Duk, Angger Dimas and many more.

With the compilation coming out tomorrow on Beatport, we are proud to premiere the Dave Winnel remix of Sgt Slick “Everyday”. Those of you who are fans of Kaskade’s compilation albums (raises hand), will recognize the piano-heavy remix by Digital Lab from Dance.Love, but now hometown kid, Dave Winnel takes over the reigns for a remix fit for 2014. The stunning vocal is left intact as Dave Winnel adds a bouncy bass line underneath a bed of synths that are a mix of a throwback to when this tune was originally released and to the sounds of today. Stream the tune below before it comes out tomorrow. Check out the teaser for the compilation below and see the full tracklist after the jump.

Collin McLoughlin
Collin McLoughlin is the king of melodic dubstep. There’s no question about it. He can write. He can produce. He can sing. He can even DJ. What does the guy not do at this point? When we heard he was releasing a “Transatlanticsm” remix we didn’t know what to think. What Collin’s come up with here is serious business. Not only is this remix beautiful, we’ve heard rumor that a huge collaboration is in the works. There’s no question that Collin’s star is quickly rising. Keep an eye out for our exclusive FreshNewTracks.com interview with him coming next week.

Barcelona - Please Dont Go [Ted Hunter & Spencer Baird Remix]

Barcelona are a group that’s sound rely heavily on piano’s so it makes sense for their style to translate to dance music remixes. Today we have for you the exclusive download of a progressive remix from Ted Hunter & Spencer Baird of the 2007 “Please Don’t Go” by the Seattle 4-piece band. They keep much of the original in the breaks, adding gentle piano that melds just right with the soft vocals from Barcelona and injecting an easy going synth melody to the crescendos. Deep House, Melbourne Bounce | Happy Endings – Shy Guy

Posted by on February 17, 2014

Throughout my time studying and traveling here in Europe, I’ve somehow managed to meet heaps of Aussies everywhere I go. I’ll admit I love their company so I don’t mind but at times it makes me wonder if they’re in the works of some secret, global takeover of sorts…. Anyways, today’s first track, “Shy Guy,” was brought to my attention by word of mouth from a Sydney native whom I encountered in my hostel in Berlin last week. I was pleasantly surprised to give it a listen later on and discover that it was in fact worth a second, third, and fourth listen after that. Happy Endings, although lacking almost any kind of background information, seems to be a deep house-producing duo led by Melbourne Bounce star Fat Blake. There’s something unique about this track compared to a lot of other songs from this genre that I’ve been listening to that I can’t quite put my finger on, but that makes me all the more excited to see what they come out with next.
