The Mozart of Moldova, the prince of trance, whatever you wish to call Andrei Rata, known professionally as, Andrew Rayel, it is abundantly clear the talent that is possessed by the 21 year old phenom. He has become the hottest up and coming talent in trance right now, with his tunes consistently being supported by your usual suspects of top DJs, culminating in a spectacular collab “Eiforya” alongside the trance Jesus himself, Armin van Buuren.

We were lucky enough to catch Andrew Rayel before his debut set here in NYC last Thursday and chat about being a college student, the upcoming album and much more. His set was a thing of beauty. 3 hours of nonstop action from start to finish, Rayel had a packed house all the way until the end of his set a little before 4am. His set included the fast paced styled mixing and loads of exclusive mashups that he is always making fresh, including one between “Bigfoot” and “Ping Pong” that really set the tone early on. He has become known for his gigantic melodies in the trance realm and has translated that to unofficial remixes for big time prog tracks like “In My Mind”, “Reload” and a new one “Under Control”.

His artist album that you can see the teaser art below is set to hit stores near you at the very of May. Get ready because it is going to be something very special and not your standard club fanfare you see elsewhere. This will be different. Also can anyone figure out the last word? I have “Find Your H_ _ _ O _ _” and can’t figure out the last word.

Events | Electric Zoo Announces Full Lineup of Afterparties + Grounds Update

Posted by on August 8, 2013

Electric Zoo 2013 Map
One of the big announcements for this year’s Electric Zoo was the addition of the second MainStage, which brought a lot of excitement at the new lineup possibilities, but also some questions as to where they would put it. Well now they have answered that question, with a map layout that puts the entrance near the Sunday School Groove Tent and the second MainStage opposite the 3 tent stages. I believe there won’t be an issue with noise bleeding, like there was at EDC NYC, but one issue may be with it getting very crowded walking along that path, especially at night and with inebriated festival-goers.

Made Event has teased a few afterparties in the past week or so, but now they have revealed all 14, bringing in Cielo and Output for a much more housey landscape. If you want to brave the crowds at Pacha, they have strong lineups, but if not, your more mainstream sounds will be championed by the bigger Roseland Ballroom, hosting the likes of Benassi, Dyro, The Machine, W&W and Deniz Koyu. Best Buy Theater will be your place for bass music with Flux and friends on Friday, Adventure Club and friends on Sunday and an intriguing show of Rudimental, Delta Heavy and Modeselektor on Saturday. If you are willing to make the hour-long commute to Brooklyn after the show for some house, Output is for you, with Dirtybird taking over in what will be one of the better afterparties, while Laurent Garnier takes over for a marathon solo set on Sunday, and Friday has a double-header at Output and Cielo. There is something for everyone at these afters that will allow you to keep the party going and get no sleep over Labor Day Weekend. Full schedule after the jump, and grab your tickets below. You can still grab tickets for the festival here.

DJ-Set, House | Gregori Klosman Klosmania #015 – Live @ Cielo, NY

Posted by on August 19, 2012

Gregori Klosman was at Cielo in New York City a little over a week ago and though I could not make it due to Hook N Sling’s performance across town, judging from his set he was able to put together a dizzying set filled giving the those in attendance the best club experience possible. Setting the tempo for something a little more unconventional, as he declares at the start “No mainstream bullshit tonight” and while I happen to like that mainstream bullshit, this set is a great change of pace and is what a long club set should be. It starts slow with more of a tech house vibe and the rambunctious Frenchman builds the energy with progressive, electro and even dubstep, sprinkling his own tracks to keep it an authentic Gregori Klosman set. The mixing and bootlegs are top of the line, combined with his eclectic tracklists and willingness to be different, Gregori Klosman is someone to have on your “must see” list. Tracklist after the jump.
