Events | EDC New York Venue & Dates Announced
Posted by Middy on January 31, 2013
On the road to Insomniac’s flagship event, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Daisy Carnival will return to New York for its second year, but this time with a change of scenery. EDC New York will move from Metlife Stadium at the Meadowlands to Citi Field, where people suffer through Mets games. It will take place Friday May 17 and Saturday May 18th, a departure from the 3 day format from last year and what is usually seen with EDC. Not sure why there was the change, but it is pretty disappointing seeing as Friday will probably start late and both dates will almost surely end at 11pm, so you really only have 1.5 days. Insomniac knows what it is doing, but the parking lot at Citi Field is not as big as it is at Metlife Stadium, so it will be interesting to see the layout of the stages. Tickets go on sale February 8th at 12pm EST and will be $159 for GA two day passes and $299 VIP two day passes. More info at the EDC website.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with DotDotEXE, it’s about time you change that. After releasing an incredible remix of Zedd’s “Spectrum” we’ve had this guy on our radar and after coming across his latest remix, we’re damn glad we’ve been following him. The remix below is huge, there’s really no other way to put it. Listen to the original here and you’ll really appreciate what DotEXE did with this one. Like him on Facebook and don’t sleep on this one.

Electro-House | Henrix – Rock & Rave
Posted by Middy on December 30, 2012
Henrix, like many other DJs is feeling generous during the holiday season and has decided to give away a brand new original to cap off a totally transformative year that saw a total name and brand change, now is entering 2013 under the moniker Henrix — one of the fastest rising American house producers with his track “Hit It” coming out soon on Size Records and another with Jakob Leidholm & Zashanell “Close Your Eyes”. “Rock & Rave” continues the same trend of quick alternating percussion we see in other Henrix tracks, but with a rolling acid bass line and a slow, ominous interlude that makes this one stand out.

Electro-House | Kaskade & Swanky Tunes ft. Lights – No One Knows Who We Are
Posted by Middy on December 24, 2012
With Kaskade on the shelf from touring after his incredibly arduous and long Freaks of Nature tour this summer, we can expect more productions to be released from him soon, and this collab with Swanky Tunes and Lights is the first to see the light of day. This is one of those either you love it or you hate it songs because it is a strong change from what we have come to love with Kaskade. That does not mean change is a bad thing, but the grinding electro house that Swanky Tunes brings to the table in this track is a strong departure from what we are used to hearing from Ryan Raddon with his uplifting and emotional songs. Personally, I am not that big a fan of it and would love to see some remixes of it, especially with the vocals from Lights, but I can see how others would like this.

Dubstep | Deltron 3030 – Upgrade (Figure Remix)
Posted by Mach on November 29, 2012
Jesus, it appears I need to change my pants now. Leave it to Figure to cause someone to poop their pants. Talking to Nammo who just had done a show with him said that Figure was probably one of the coolest guys he has ever met. Despite all the shows, fame, and money, Figure keeps it real. Figure’s music shows that he is no where close to selling out and will continue to rape our ears into bloody submission. Well, that was a tad bit graphic.
Dubstep, Preview | The Prototypes – Suffocate (Koven Remix)
Posted by Mach on November 4, 2012
Koven (previously Coven, name change due to a lawsuit), is definitely a favorite of mine, considering I have many favorites, but its hard not to when you listen to a lot of music on a daily basis. Koven is a bass machine. He has countless amazing released originals and remixes, including a large arsenal of unreleased tunes including this awesome upcoming remix of The Prototypes’ “Suffocate.” From the clip, the vocals are used properly, but what really gets to you is the extremely heavy bassline using identical synths to those that made Killsonik famous. Koven has show he can adapt his own style in many different ways. This remix releases November 11th.
House | Matisyahu – Live Like A Warrior (Gatzby Remix)
Posted by Mach on November 1, 2012
I have noticed a few people complaining about the amount of House posted, though I disagree seeing as it is all Middy posts. I did notice however the amount of free house tracks is indeed limited, so here I am changing that. Gatzby has been sneaking under the rader, but that is about to change. I found it interesting he chose to do a House remix of Matisyahu, at that point I knew I had to check it out. This is an awesome remix, though one would argue its just like all popular House, but isn’t that why it’s so great? Make sure you show Gatzby some love.
