Live City have been on tear lately and it culimates in the release of “Slingshot” via Tommie Sunshine’s Brooklyn Fire Recordings. Their relationship with Tommie goes well beyond a few signed records, they have done a ton of tracks together and Tommie has been a sensei to them. This acid influenced fireball has been supported by some bug names like Marcus Schossow, Sander van Doorn and Benny Benassi all supporting in person. Grab this tune and head out to see them at Slake on the 18th if you are in NYC.

Although things started off slowly, I forgot this isn’t the west coast where Fridays are optional, by seven o’clock the Electric Zoo fields and stages were flooded with raging fans. Getting there early wasn’t such a bad move, mind you, since we were able to familiarize ourselves with the various stages, their media pits, and of course, the food and beverage tents. The Four stages of EDM fury featured Tiesto, Moby, Benassi, MSTRKRFT, Rusko, Robbie Rivera, and several other mind blowing acts. The next two days look equally impressive, bringing in the likes of Skrillex, Above and Beyond, and Guetta for Sat and Armin, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, and Alesso to name a few. Last night Chris Brown confirmed that his newest “pop” single will be “Beautiful People,” a track produced by Benny Benassi. As well all know, the electronic touch is exponentially altering the mainstream music scene. This track is proof that such changes are certainly positive. Posted above is a video of Benassi dropping the track during a New Years Eve celebration at Stereo Live in Houston, Texas. The 5:04 mark is where this new banger hits.

Fresh New Tracks visited downtown Los Angeles last night and had one of the most mind blowing experiences…ever. Bassnectar live is unexplainable. Living in Los Angeles and Denver I’ve had my mind blown by several top performers, Armin Van Buren, Benassi, & Kaskade to name a few…but none of their sets compare to what Bassnectar provides. If you’ve seen Bassnectar live, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Bassnectar is like Biglife’s abs, you just have to see them in person to understand. As we like to say here at Fresh New Tracks, my ears are still wet from last night.
