DJ-Set, Electro-House, Progressive House | Cazzette, Arty, Avicii, Swanky Tunes Live from Pier 94 @NYC

Posted by on January 2, 2012

This was a ridiculous night starting with a solid set from Glenn Morrison at 9pm until around 10:30 and ending with Swanky Tunes killing it with the sun rising ending with Hard Rock Sofa’s “Quasar” at around 6am and Swanky Tunes & Hard Rock Sofa’s “I Wanna Be Your Dog” as well as playing some new songs. Though these sets are not complete from start to finish, they give you a good picture of how good they were. Swanky Tunes and Arty stood out to me because there was not a dull moment in their sets with their energy and song selection and Arty had some incredible bootlegs such as Nero “Me & You” with Tiesto & Diplo “C’Mon”. Arty seemed to run out of steam at the end of his set because Avicii was late so he continued to play some songs that he probably did not intend to play, but overall his set was outstanding with a new song that is absolutely amazing. Avicii had an outstanding set with some quality mixes and he played of course a whole host of unreleased tracks including his collaboration with Nicky Romero, Silhouettes, Let Me Show You Love and his remix of Eric Turner’s “Dancing In My Head” got its first quality play on the radio. He had the crowd completely at his control with his uplifting melodies and did not stop playing until close to 5am. Cazzette delivered a great, high energy set with their heavy electro & dubstep style with a bunch of unreleased stuff including their single “Killmode” as well as some pretty ridiculous remixes of NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton” as well as Chris Brown & Busta Rhymes’ “Look At Me Now”. These sets are quality and will let you relive the memories a little better for those who were there and allow those who were not to enjoy some quality sets. Tracklists after the jump.

Hip-Hop | Twas The Night Before Blogmas (FNT Poem Edit)

Posted by on December 24, 2011

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a blog post was stirring, not even a Deadmau5.
The stockings were hung by Big Life with care,
In hopes that the blogfather soon would be there.

The bloggers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of must-downloads danced in their heads.
And ATexas in her ‘kerchief, and Mach in his cap,
Had just settled their brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
GruBeats sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw a rave bash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to Avicii below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and W8 with tiny reindeer.

With a throwback old track, so lively and quick,
I knew in a flash that it must be DJ St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his bloggers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

“Now Mach! now, W8! now, BigLife and Scoop!
On, Middy! On, ATexas! On, Sev and Jewcebox!
To the top of the blogs! It must be Ludacrismas!

GMoney spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the inboxes, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the blog world he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to the FNT team he gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a fresh new tracks good-night!

Bootleg | Sean Johnson – I Found Sunshine x Bassive Antidote

Posted by on December 10, 2011

For his latest two bootlegs, Sean Johnson, has taken on a number of big names including Avicii, SHM, and Knife Party. Here is what he had to say about his latest track:

Sunshine is definitely one of my favorite songs of the year, well worth the Grammy nomination in my opinion. I also loved the Special Features rework, as he added his signature grungy/groovy bass and massive build ups. I sliced the two tracks up and then layered them on top of each other throughout most of the track, giving it the huge, euphoric feel that the original somewhat lacked.

Progressive House | Marc Mysterio ft. Karl Wolf & Dhany – Everything Is All Wrong (Bjornberg Remix)

Posted by on December 6, 2011

ADAM BJORNBERG! The latest Swede sensation is destined for an extreme escalation similar to that of Avicii in his early days. Bjornberg clearly derives inspiration from Avicii although unlike many others manages to carve out his brilliance in way that will soon make him the one to be inspired by. That being said Middy supplied us with a detailed description of Bjornberg back in October upon the release of Ofvre, and later his hit Absolut. A very bright future lays ahead of this fresh star and it’s obvious why, he’s turned us all into fortune tellers. Consistency is key and that’s what he’s comprised of.

Progressive House | St. Paul – Svea, Live It Good, & Precious

Posted by on December 6, 2011

St. Paul is yet another Swede set to catch fire in 2012. At the age of 15, without any musical knowledge Paul would admire his friends work in the studio, later to become an essential part of his life. After spending more time in the studio lead to every day in the studio, developing an ear for music with no problem making new, great tracks. Paul’s influences range from Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso, and Avicii just to name a few. His goal is to play house festivals around the world and inspire others the way he got inspired by music. Unfortunately downloads aren’t decorating this post, just a heads up on some fresh new talent ready to launch. I’ll keep you posted.

Preview, Progressive House | Stonebridge, Chris Kaeser, Funky Junction – MDF (Fred Lilla Remix), Nicky Romero Preview

Posted by on December 2, 2011

This is going to be my anthem for the 5 months I will be spending in Toulouse starting in January, thank you Nicky Romero.
This is a song you do not want to sleep on from PinkStar Records. It has that quintessential Scandinavian house sound with a nice choppy synth build. The drop has those piano chords that have become so popular by Avicii, Basto! and others. Get it on Beatport HERE.
