Events | Arty, Dada Life & Co. take over Six Flags Great Adventure

Posted by on August 20, 2012

This is pure genius. House music and roller coasters, it is a match made in heaven. Six Flags was a staple of my childhood, with class trips heading down to Jackson, NJ to enjoy such great rides like Nitro, Kingda Ka , Superman, Batman and more (Kingda Ka either had a 6 hour line or was broken). With Dada Life, Arty, Lazy Rich, Excision, Super Mash Bros & Dj Bl3nd bringing the party to the revelers of this great amusement park on Saturday October 6th from 12pm until 11pm, this will be a day you would not forget. Just imagine doing whatever it is you do for a typical Alesso, Arty or Lazy Rich concert and then going on a really fast roller coaster — whoa. You know you want to go. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 24th at noon.

Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Arty Interview (FNT Exclusive)

Posted by on August 5, 2012

22 year old Russian producer / DJ Artem Stolyarov, better known by his stage name Arty has slowly become a household name with his crossover Trance / Progressive sound that seems to fill space so well and has become so unique to him. Already hailed as a legend by the trance god himself, Armin van Buuren, Arty is only going to become better and better as he gets older. His earlier productions that trended towards trance are all fantastic like “Bliss”, his “Vanilla Sky” EP with his more recent productions like “Mozart”, “Trio“, his “Walking Alone” remix and most recently “Open Space” have been more that Trance / Progressive fusion, offering not just one style, but a plethora of sounds. You will never hear the same set twice from him because of how varied his tastes are. He can create the perfect set for any occasion and will masterfully manipulate the crowd every time. He has a radio show “2gether We Are” that shows off his varied tastes in music playing everything from Dubstep to progressive to trance, generally choosing songs that are not your already huge singles.

Looking ahead to what the rest of 2012 has in store for Arty. He has upcoming collaborations with Axwell (finished), Porter Robinson, his collab with BT & Nadia Ali – Must Be The Love, and singles “Together We Are”, and “When I See You”, recently revealed by Sebastian Ingrosso on the latest edition of Refune Radio. In my interview with him we discussed growing up in Russia and the scene there, his love for video games, talked about a few of his songs such as his trancey Drum N Bass collab with Paul van Dyk “Sun After Heartbreak”, taking final exams the day after ASOT 500 and much more.

FNT: What is your mindset going into a set and how do you adjust during your set?

Arty: I don’t know, I just go to the stage and see the people and I have some sort of playlist, some sort of tracks that I plan to play, but it really depends on the crowd, what’s the kind of crowd, what kind of tracks they like and what the vibe is. So I decide during my set.

FNT: Does it depend on the venue too because I saw you at A State Of Trance and you played more trance than this show.

Arty: Yeah for sure. If I am playing for A State of Trance I am playing more Trance, if I am playing just for a festival, I am playing more festival music. So as I said, it really depends on the crowd, because the crowds are really different. Some of them like more Electro stuff, some of them like more Trancey stuff, some of them like more emotional stuff, it really depends.

Events, Review | Identity Festival Philadelphia 7/29 Recap

Posted by on August 3, 2012

Identity Festival made its triumphant return to Philadelphia with a quality lineup for all tastes with the likes of Arty, Madeon, Noisa, Excision, the master Eric Prydz and more. Though the lineup may not have been as stacked as last year as booking fees have risen astonishingly high in the last year, causing ticket prices to go even higher (or the other way around, chicken and the egg) the lineup was still very good and Identity Festival is going to provide an excellent show with outstanding visuals at a great price. It is something that we are seeing less and less these days.

The day started off with good sets from upstarts like “The Eye” and “Le Castle Vania” and when 5 rolled around it was time for Noisa to grace the stage with their eclectic Drum N Bass style, kicking the night into full gear. Pulling from a full array of their own songs as well as Electro and Dubstep tracks from others, Noisa’s set helped bring the festival to energy level it needed to be at with the crowd levels coming to their peak capacity. Pictures are now up on Facebook. Hit the jump for more of the recap.

Preview, Trance | Zedd – Spectrum (Arty Remix)

Posted by on July 19, 2012

Just when you thought the body of “Spectrum” remixes had reached critical mass, Arty swoops in and changes the game. This might be my favorite of the bunch — I’ve already professed my love for Armin’s treatment, but that seems almost conservative in comparison to what the young Russian producer has done here. Arty has accomplished the impressive feat of totally rerouting Zedd’s anthemic track, layering in eerily mesmerizing chords and bright, punchy synth bursts that manage to give this summer favorite a completely new and different tenor. In short, this is amazing in its own right. Unfortunately, we’re stuck waiting until July 31st for a hiqh quality download — that’s when the full Spectrum EP is set to drop.

DJ-Set, Progressive House, Trance | Arty – Together We Are Ep #001 + Preview

Posted by on June 26, 2012

Arty premiered his new weekly radio show on Saturday nights from 1am to 2am this past weekend and it may be early to say, but it looks like it could be one of the better weekly radio shows out there, or will quickly develop into one of them. The mix is better than most radio shows we are seeing from artists these days because not only does it keep the needless chatting down to a minimum and give us the most music possible, but it also has a different track list from the recycled track lists in mix shows we are seeing from prominent DJs. He plays a mixture of new and “old” tracks including upcoming tracks from Inpetto out July 2nd on Doorn Records and Redlight – Lost In Your Love, that have the chance to become very popular. The songs are just as good as your Beatport top 40, but they are just less known, showing that Arty not only is an incredible producer, but also has great taste and skill as a finder of quality music. Another indicator of the success of this radio show is the best pick in Rudimental’s DNB anthem “Feel The Love” that has been massively supported though it has not been released in the States, showing the completeness of the show. Tracklist for the show after the jump.

Another piece of big news coming out of Arty’s camp this week is that the ID (above) he premiered on New Years is going to be called “Together We Are” and will be released this summer. This song is incredible and will be one of the progressive anthem’s for the summer if it is released in time to get some serious festival work.

Progressive House | Arty – Open Space

Posted by on June 18, 2012

Arty is one of the most versatile producers out there right now. His productions vary completely in sound from one track to the next. There is one constant however, they are all the highest quality. While I was hoping for his New Years ID to be his next release, “Open Space” is just fine to keep me over until that blissful track is released. Arty uses his sound that fills space so well with uplifting, reverbed synth and piano melodies, a quick chord progression, subtle growling synths accompanying the steady bass line. “Open Space” is yet another big release from Arty and Anjunabeats and do not miss Arty as he tears up ID Fest this summer.
