Dubstep, Preview | Rekoil – Forever

Posted by on June 4, 2013

Rekoil - ForeverRekoil is your usual, bass in your face, destroy your ear drums type of producer. That is until he released this melodic clip today. The track has actually generated some disgust from some of Rekoil’s more “loyal” fans. I really don’t care if an artist breaks out from their comfort zone time to time, if the track is good why hate? Rekoil did an exceptional job on this, the melody is flawless. I’m nerding out a little from this track since the bit synth samples remind me of the “Lavender Town Theme” from the original Pokemon game. I hope he releases the full of this track soon, and maybe he will continue to dabble a little more in the melodic side of Dubstep. Props to Rekoil for keeping it real.

Cover, RnB | Spenz — Do Me Now (Cover)

Posted by on May 30, 2013

Spenz
We hardly ever post covers—so I guarantee this one is something special. My aversion partly has to do with the fact that I place so much value in songwriting, but also because it’s extremely rare to find one in which an artist actually adds something to the original. For most upstarts, covers essentially become replications—just a means of highlighting that they can also fill the space of an overproduced pop instrumental. But, on that rare occasion, I hear one that improves something that was missing on the original, or gives life to it in a unique way. Such is the case here, as Jamaican R&B artist Spenz reinterprets K. Roosevelt’s “Do Me Now”, which—even though it’s taking over radio right now—is underwhelming, given the quality of the Hit-Boy beat he received. Spenz provides that missing energy, smoothes out K. Roosevelt’s more staccato delivery, and adds some soul. You can expect to hear a lot more from this talented new artist in the coming months. In the meantime, keep up with him here.

Electro-House, Progressive House | Empire of the Sun – Alive (Remixes)

Posted by on May 28, 2013

Empire of the Sun - Alive (Remixes)Luke Steele & Nick Littlemore, better known as Empire of the Sun, have created enourmous buzz for their sophomore artist album “Ice On The Dune“, set for release June 18th, notably after the success of their 2008 album “Walking On A Dream”. The lead single “Alive“, has already been a huge hit for the duo and not surprisingly has been remixed by some of the best in dance music.

Fast rising stars, Zedd and Mat Zo take the daunting task of doing an official remix for Empire of the Sun and hit it out of the park. Mat Zo brings back his atmospheric synths of earlier productions, while adding his own quick synth progression, keeping an appropriate amount of the original and vocal for a nuanced approach to the track. Zedd adds his own touch to the song with a fidgety, gritty low end, growling synths and chopped vocals showing his ability to mold his electro sound to an indie-dance track like this. David Guetta and his production team bring “Alive” to the festival stage with an in your face drop of grinding synths and thumping bass. Fellow Australian, M4SONIC adds a glitchy twist to the track with his own blend of gritty synths and fast paced key play.

Dubstep, Trap | Justin Timberlake – Suit & Tie (Dillon Francis Rmx) [Masq Bootleg]

Posted by on May 27, 2013

ustin Timberlake - Suit & Tie (Dillon Francis Rmx) [Masq Bootleg]If I’m going to be honest, which I am, Dillon Francis’ remix of “Suit & Tie” was overrated. It was just a lot of noises, there wasn’t much to it. Masq has been a reoccurring artist to FNT for a few months now, mainly for all the cool bootlegs he has been doing. I was a little nervous when I played this track, I couldn’t imagine what anyone would want to do with this remix. Masq of course defeated my doubts and ended up showing us one nasty bootleg.

Dubstep | Shrine – Kursk (Emperor Remix)

Emperor has really been producing some outstanding tunes lately. After having released one of the better DnB tracks in the past few months entitled ‘She Said’, which has been getting great feedback, he pulls through with this neuro-styled dubstep remix. The sounds he uses in this drop aren’t really what you hear many artist use, which is what attracted me to it right away. I know you guys probably hear that a lot, but this is probably when I truthfully mean it. This track has an eerie, aggressive, and dark vibe to it that just keeps me replaying it.

Dubstep | Konec – The Void (Ft. Anna Yvette) + Exclusive Interview

Posted by on May 24, 2013

It has been a great pleasure watching Konec grow as an artist over the past year and even more exciting to see what the future holds for this young talent. After months of hard work he is on the verge of his new EP release entitled ‘Futures EP’ on Datsik’s label, Firepower Records. It’s great to see an artist work so hard and receive the credit they deserve for the countless hours they spend working on their craft. Up until now we have been getting little glimpses of Konec’s EP through mixes, but with the EP release in four days we finally get a free download of what I consider to be one of the most emotional dubstep tracks I have heard thus far this year. Anna Yvette has clearly been busy working with some of the best producers around and she deserves her recognition just as much as Konec does. With the EP release soon approaching, I recommend everyone listen to the iTunes previews of the tracks and Pre-order the EP right after, because it is going to be worth the purchase. Up to this point I have only see positive responses about the EP and imagine only better things to come. Check out the previews below as well as the exclusive interview with Konec about writing the EP and other matters.

Dubstep | Sadhu – Say What (Addergebroed 2013 VIP Remix)

Addergebroed is an artist not many people have heard of. He has a pretty unique style when it comes to constructing tunes and his sounds. He had a remix done for Sadhu’s ‘Say What’ tune a few months back, but it was just all over the place. However this VIP absolutely blew my mind after the first listen. It has a weird rhythm to it that just latches in your mind forcing you to play it on repeat all day.
