Hip-Hop | HIP-HOP | Game ft. Rick Ross and DJ Khaled
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 13, 2011

“The King” aka Game’s most recent leak off his highly anticipated “R.E.D album”, fell short of my expectations much like H.A.M did. It wasn’t unbearable but at the same time it didn’t stay on my hard drive for very long. I’m used to the hard hitting beats in songs like the Game’s most recent tagless drop of “Stop”. It might be wishful thinking considering the DJ version hit the internet over a year ago, but I’m hoping the rest of his album features tracks similar to “Stop” and songs found on his earlier projects like Let Me Put You In The Game. Incredibly, XXL magazine claims that in a recent poll, the hype around Game’s upcoming album trumps big names like Dre, Lupe, Wayne and more. Personally, I think the results were skewed by the fact that the Game was probably the only person who told his fans to go vote for him. Anyways the west coast rapper really compliments the east coast bawse quite well in this track. Of course the production talents of Cool & Dre didn’t hurt either…

Reggae | REGGAE | The Holdup

In March of 2009, The Hold up dropped their album “Stay Gold” which launched to #44 on the Top 100 Reggae Albums on iTunes “What’s Hot” List for 6 weeks. After listening to the track “Young Fools” you’ll see exactly why. I just came across these guys at 130 am and after a few quick emails with their management and songs in hand, I can’t take them off repeat. Support The Holdup and purchase their album and tracks off iTunes HERE. Shout out to “Deena” in the chat box

Here’s some solid coverage of Sam preforming “Coming Up” on FuelTV. Poor guy was under the weather that day but he was still able to put on a nice show for the crowd. We will be catching up with Sam later this month to get some details on his upcoming album which will be dropping in the near future. (Btw props to FuelTV on their HD online video platform – sure beats Youtube)

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | HIP-HOP | Curren$y’s “Return To The Winner’s Circle”
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 2, 2011

I wanted to run through this entire mixtape before covering it on FNT. There aren’t any surprises here (unfortunately), just basically what you’d expect from a vet in the game with an album around the corner: solid production with the usual Curren$y chill rap flair. “Return To the Winner’s Circle” is a solid piece of work but I’m still waiting for Curren$y to create a “breakthrough” project – one that really accelerates his career from his current standing. Although he’s holding onto the music world with a strong grip with notable accolades that range from him being a former Young Money artist (you do still remember that song he did with Lil Wayne “Where Da Cash At” , right?), to his 150k+ fans on twitter, I still don’t consider him a huge force in the game. He’s armed with a unique sound and voice, which he utilizes well with smart lyrics, but he’s moving more laterally than he is vertically it seems. Lets put it this way, I’d be nervous to have him headline a show. Anyways, I’ve posted my favorite cuts below… Abridged version: To me this mixtape is more of a buzz maintainer than producer, something to hold us over until he drops his next album.

I know what you all are thinking, wtf took me so long to post this, right? I’ve been sitting on this Daft Punk special for a few weeks so I guess its about time that intro/reintroduce it to everyone. Normally I hate Sci-Fi bs, but I must admit, this video makes the song a lot cooler… Grab the full album on iTunes here.
Two of my favorite remixers plus a hot new Akcent track in one post? Doesn’t get much better than that. And since this is a special post, I’d like to give a special shout out to our die hard fan Andrew who has been holding it down for us in SoCal.

Upbeat track from FNT fav Sam Adams… “first person to big league the majors I made it myself without any favors”… everyone who accuses Boston’s Boy of buying his own album and surviving off handouts has it completely twisted, I can attest to that…
