Compilation, House, Interviews, Review, Videos | Jaytech Interview + Anjunadeep Vol 4

Posted by on February 27, 2012

We have a lot for you in this post. We have an exclusive interview with the Australian Dj / producer, James Cayzer, better known as Jaytech, one of the mixers on Anjunedeep Volume 4, which just released today, as well as an exclusive download of one of Jaytech’s more popular songs “Djembe”. As Jaytech explains in the interview, Anjunadeep is the sister label of Anjunabeats, the label run by the trance super group Above & Beyond. Anjuandeep deals with everything melodic house and this can be seen on this mix compilation. The first CD was mixed by James Grant and the second was mixed by Jaytech. The first CD has more of a techy, deep house feel with some great groovy tracks from guys like Tom Middleton (no relation to me), Andrew Bayer, Dusky and more. There are old releases and new including Andrew Bayer & James Grant’s remix of Above & Beyond – Prelude, Two songs from Dusky, Andrew Bayer – You and many more.
The second CD is more of the melodic house signature of Anjunadeep with some heavy trance influences in some of the songs. The second CD is chock full of quality tracks from Solarity, Suspect 44 and their uplifting track “Neon Feel”, Oliver Smith, Andrew Bayer and more. Jaytech premiers some new tracks on here with “Synergy” and “Atlantic”. The entire compilation send us on a journey of sounds and emotions with the music through a variety of tech, deep, and melodic house songs with different sounds and styles from groovy and funky rhythms to songs with more trance influences. This compilation has something for everyone who likes EDM and after the jump check out the interview with Jaytech that has been in the works for a while but just came to fruition. Also below are two mix previews, buy links, social media links, and the exclusive song from Jaytech, “Djembe”.

Electro-House, Progressive House, Trance | Hard Rock Sofa – Quasar Preview, Arty Essential Mix

Posted by on February 11, 2012

I hope you all are as excited for “Quasar” as I am because the song is bigger than most. Arty premiered last night his first essential mix, masterfully weaving together a 2 hour mix of his own songs and songs of others to create a 2 hour ride of melodic, uplifting trance and house. Arty needs no introduction, but Pete Tong in his announced that Arty has forthcoming collaborations with Knife Party and Axwell, which should create some absolutely massive songs. Arty plays a few of his upcoming tracks including the much anticipated “Trio” with Matisse & Sadko, his “Walking Alone” remix, set to release on the 15th, a massive remix from fellow Russians Matisse & Sadko and some mashups he plays out to create this 2 hour journey of euphoria with Arty. Tracklist after the jump.

Trance, Videos | Trance Tuesday

Posted by on February 7, 2012

As promised last week, the second part of Dash Berlin’s music video series with his two singles “Better Half Of Me” & “World Falls Apart”. This Trance Tuesday has a strong progressive house influence, but these are big name artists with Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Jochen Miller, Nitrous Oxide’s remix of Above & Beyond’s “Formula Rossa” and others all contributing massive stuff recently. There are also some more traditional trance gems as well later in the post. Armin creates this more progressive house remix of Kirsty’s “Twilight” for Zouk Records, with some amazing female vocals, a well constructed guitar lead and pulsing synth chords. Get it on BEATPORT.

The trance legend, Paul van Dyk is getting ready to release his 6th artist album “Evolution” on April 3rd and just gave out a single for free to help promote the album. It is more of a progressive house type of a track, which could show a direction of the album, but I don’t think it is just because it features Austin Leeds, who is known for his progressive house. Get the free download and preorder the Album HERE.
Paul van Dyk feat. Austin Leeds – Verano

Jochen Miller teams up with Rank 1 to create this massive track with outstanding vocals from Sarah Bettens. Smooth melodic synths and a steady bassline mark this song with the perfect accompaniment of female vocals. Get it on BEATPORT.

This song from Ummet Ozcan starts out as what you would think would be a pretty standard trance build with a few piano motifs thrown in, but at around the 3 minute mark the song changes character rather drastically and drops into an uplifting progressive tune led by piano and light synths. Get it on BEATPORT.

Nitrous Oxide puts their own spin on this amazing single from the potent trance trio, Above & Beyond. The Polish trance producer keeps much of the original structure to the song, but adds a different feel to the bassline and a little more to the melody. Get it on BEATPORT. More trance tracks after the jump.

DO SOMETHING

Electro-House, Trance | Porter Robinson (Preview), Wolfgang Gartner, Venom, Maison & Dragen

Posted by on January 31, 2012

Fresh off Above & Beyond’s stellar performance last night, it’s needless to say – I’m still awake. I left the club diagnosed with an evermore addiction to bass thumping, fist pumping, bodies bumping syndrome. So, having been inspired by ruptured ringing ear drums, I dedicate this post to the appreciation of records like these heard in live, real energetic environments.

That looks like one of the best offices to work in; great music, great label and Mat Zo causally djing in the background. Where do I apply? Tritonal & Ben Gold have released their much anticipated dub remix of Tritonal’s “Slave”, which has been one of the biggest tracks on various podcasts and web shows from Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Above & Beyond among others for the past month. This song just has to be bought by you guys. Not only is it an outstanding song, but Tritonal is also giving out 5, yes 5 exclusive mashups if you buy this song between today and the 27th. If that was not enough, if you buy it within the next 24 hours, you also have a chance to win tickets to their show in Leeds with Gareth Emery and Andy Moor, among others. Convinced yet? I know I bought this song. Details right HERE and more on their FACEBOOK. Get this on BEATPORT.

Eco, a trance Dj and producer based out of New York just released this two song EP on Armada Records that is simply stunning. With a simple yet effective bass line, these songs have slow, measured builds that pace their way into melodic breaks with uplifting synth work that is worthy of establishing Eco as one of the elite US trance producers. Get the EP on BEATPORT.

Stoneface & Terminal create this remix that is almost nothing like you have heard in trance before. It has a great, melodic build that suddenly drops into a very slow heavy two-step beat that then speeds up into an intense synth and bass driven drop that makes this song as wild a journey of sound as it is tempo for the listener. Get it on BEATPORT.

Orjan Nilsen continues his 2012 right where he left off in 2011 by making absolutely massive trance tracks. He was a breakout artist in 2011 with a very successful album on Armada Records, and is only looking to build on that success in 2012. “Lucky Strike” is testament to that as a display of utmost quality from start to finish. Get this track on BEATPORT.

Xtigma comes out with this great single on Gareth Emery’s Garuda Records, that will surely help both the label and the artist. The song gives a great array of synth sounds with pitched synths and different tempos, as well as a great bass line underneath. Get it on BEATPORT.

Dubstep | Vodex and Seven Lions

Posted by on January 5, 2012

You won’t usually find me posting melodic dubstep tracks, but these remixes to Above & Beyond won me over. Vodex and Seven Lions accompany Above & Beyond’s great melodies with some of their own creating a great blend. Although the Seven Lions remix is a little heavier than the Vodex; I still consider it melodic compared to what I usually post.

Albums, Trance | Breakfast – The Deep End EP Review

Posted by on December 21, 2011

Casey Keyworth or “Breakfast” is an American Trance DJ from the Annapolis Maryland, DC area, who is starting to make waves in the trance industry. His tracks have been supported by all the big names, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Above & Beyond and others and has been known as a master remixer as you guys saw with his “From The Earth” remix. He just released his first artist album and it is an excellent album with some of his well-known tracks that have been played for crowds around the world such as “Air Guitar” and “Horizon” as well as new tracks that are bound to be hits.

The CD varies in sound with each song having a different feel. They are all instrumental tracks which is slightly disappointing, but it emphasizes the production quality of the instrumental. These tracks are not the classic 90s trance nor are they new trance 2.0 style but more of a mix and something different that is interesting. I picked out a few of my favorites for you guys to listen to. Get the album on Beatport HERE. He also just put out a free 30 minute 5 song E.P that is absolutely outstanding. It seamlessly goes between the songs and shows the variety of styles Keyworth uses. The extended mixes will be available on Christmas Day. Check Breakfast out on Facebook, Twitter, and his website.
