Reggae | REGGAE | The Holdup

Posted by on January 7, 2011

In March of 2009, The Hold up dropped their album “Stay Gold” which launched to #44 on the Top 100 Reggae Albums on iTunes “What’s Hot” List for 6 weeks. After listening to the track “Young Fools” you’ll see exactly why. I just came across these guys at 130 am and after a few quick emails with their management and songs in hand, I can’t take them off repeat. Support The Holdup and purchase their album and tracks off iTunes HERE. Shout out to “Deena” in the chat box

Reggae | REGGAE | Mark Hardy “All I Want Is You” Official Video

Posted by on January 4, 2011

Every now and again I’ll hit our fans with some quality reggae tunes. Unfortunately, the production and quality expectations aren’t as high in the Carribean so it’s extremely difficult to find tracks that won’t give our American fans an ear sore. Well we are lucky because our long time brudda, Mark Hardy, keeps pumping out tracks that are mastered in the US. Don’t worry, this doesn’t dilute the authenticity of his Trinidadian flare – just makes it that much more crisp. We dropped this Mark Hardy freestyle over Miguel and J.Cole’s “All I Want Is You” back in November and above is the official music video for it. Hopefully the new team he’s put together will continue his momentum. For more information, check out his Official Facebook Page and on Twitter. Like his fan page because this standup and humble artist is here to stay.

Trinidad and Tobago ragga fusion star, Mark Hardy, goes over Miguel and J.Cole’s “All I Want Is You” and absolutely murders it. This is off his upcoming W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G (What You See Is What You Get) mixtape. If you’re not familiar with Mark’s music, read up on him here and here. Trini to de Bone!

DO SOMETHING

Reggae | Raunchy Reggae

These Reggae artists do it right. Their budget isn’t huge so they just stick to the basics, sex and soda can curlers, to produce incredible videos like the one above. And you know what? It never gets old. I love it. From ramping shop, which I included in the original Reggae post that everyone hated, to Bumpy Ride I just can’t get enough of this stuff. “Every ting criss” right Binnie and Kiz clads? Haterz sound off in the comment section and chatbox bc it does absolutely nothing. Oh and by the way, Beiber is incredibly talented I’d get way more tail if I could dance and drum like he does in this video.

Mohombi – Bumpy Ride (Prod. By RedOne)(5 STARS)

Busy Signal – Grab and Wine (Sexy Bak Riddim)(4.5 stars)

Spice – Jim Screechie(4 stars)

Hip-Hop, Reggae | Rock City- No Days Off (Mixtape)

I can’t complain, it’s just raining Rock City tracks today. If you’re not familiar with these brothers from the Virgin Islands, they are signed to Konvict Music and are in my opinion the most underrated duo in hip-hop right now. Although their single, “Losing It” didn’t result in an album being released, Akon recently said on his Twitter that a new Rock City single would be coming out this year. The tracks above are from their highly anticipated “No Days Off” mixtape hosted by Don Cannon dropping in the near future. Until they album comes out, it’s still PTFAO!

My bredda from another mother, Marky Hardy, just hit me with his new track off his project, “2nd Chances Riddim”. If you’ve been living under a rock, Marky Hardy has a huge buzz in Trinidad and Tobago, and is undoubtedly a rising star in the reggae/fusion world. In the above clip, Marky sits down with Red 96.7 FM to debut his new track and how he describes his sound. I love Marky’s message in his music and he’s an artist that you need to keep an eye on. I wan tuh hail out all of Trinidad and Tobago and J-Rod Records! Ent!

I’m surprised he had time to make this song considering he’s been busy doing this.
