Hip-Hop, Reggae | Mark Hardy, Tinie Tempah, Cali P, Laden & More | Reggae
Posted by BIGLIFE on February 17, 2011
I need someone to start submitting reggae tracks to our gmail because it takes me forever to find something catchy. One out of fifteen tracks I listen to has both solid production and a catchy hook. And don’t tell me they blow because you cant understand the lyrics, just deal with it by making up your own. Big ups to Mark Hardy for always hitting us with quality tracks.

If the video above isn’t a display of old school talent, I don’t know what is. Check out MC Xander piece together a bumping reggae track with basically only his voice.

Hip-Hop, Reggae | McWorm – “Be Free” and “The Intro” | Chill Rap
Posted by BIGLIFE on February 10, 2011
Here’s an interesting story covered by CBS News in DC about the rapper featured in this post who balances his hip hop career with a passion for politics. It even touches upon the new nature of the music industry, a topic that our FNTers know all too well. Check the video if you have some free time. Otherwise skip right ahead to the soulful and chill rap tracks below. I’m really digging Cisco’s vibe, it’s a welcomed change of pace in my music library. Definitely give these an ear. I can’t decide which one I like more, so sound off in the comments section or chatbox. Stay tuned to Skillful Methods to catch the EP release in March.

Hip-Hop, Reggae | Stephen Marley ft Melanie Fion – “No Cigarette Smoke” | Reggae
Posted by BIGLIFE on February 8, 2011
I’m shocked no one mentioned the pitiful musical performances put on last night at the Super Bowl. I did not expect The Black Eyed Peas to butcher their popular songs so badly, but fortunately for them most peoples attention has been focused on Christina Aguilera’s disgraceful attempt to sing the National Anthem. I almost posted the video but it’s just too awkward for me to handle. Not only did she add way too much spice to the tune, she forgot several of the lines. Thankfully there weren’t like a ton of people watching Fox last night… At least I can say the Doritos video above helped soothe the pain – this was definitely my favorite commercial of the night.

Reggae | Collie Buddz EP “Playback” | REGGAE
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 20, 2011
Today I learned something new; maybe three out of hundreds of thousands of people actually read what write in my posts. Like I could probably go on about how Jewcebox crushes guys every weekend and never get called out for it. People would just assume my blurb was about the incredible music I post and download away. It’s ridiculous I feel like a used and abused scribe. I’ve been talking about this EP for months and yet I still received at least twenty notifications today that it dropped and that I needed to post it asap. No shit, I’ve been watching the counter on the Collie Buddz homepage for a month now. Well I’ve finally listened to it from head to toe and can officially rank the tracks (subject to change later). So without further adieu, I present you with my favorite EP of 2011. All the tracks are below but if you want to download the zip file go to the Collie Buddz Official Website.

Reggae | REGGAE | Mark Hardy “Just The Way You Are (Remix)”
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 18, 2011
If you’re looking for that mental escape to paradise, let your ears lead the way with Mark Hardy’s latest remix to Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are” (posted below, documentary film above). I’ve been fortunate enough to talk to Mark at length about the struggles of Carribean music namely the reggae genre. Every month there are thousands of riddims, remixes, and originals that hit the market, yet none of them seem crip enough for a spoiled American ear to enjoy. Throw this great guy a bone and like his facebook page here and dont be shy to tell your friends about him. If you’re another blog checking out FNT (we’ve started to see him pop up on a few others), post this track up, we don’t want credit just spread the love!
