After having heard countless remixes of The Notorious B.I.G, it was really refreshing to hear one that was different from the rest. French producer Paxel has taken this track and given it an uplifting tropical vibe, using the vocals so well that I almost forgot that the original was actually an old school hip-hop track. If he keeps going like this, Paxel is going to be someone to definitely be on the lookout for in 2015, reminding me of a young Matoma. Another huge tune from IDEX! Yes this song has been overplayed by now, but this is by far one of my favorites and first tropical house version that I’ve heard. Although this is unlike his usual style, IDEX creates a tropical feel to this remix perfect for Ultra weekend coming up. Make sure to give him some love for this one.

Sam Smith cleaned up this year at the Grammys…and it was well deserved. We were expecting at least a small shoutout to Disclosure after Sam Smith won his FOURTH Grammy of the night, but Sam Smith unfortunately didn’t show the electronic world any love. Regardless, LA producer Justin Caruso just delivered a tropical house remix that is so good, you would have thought it was Kygo.
