Electro-House, House | Don Diablo – Silent Shadows (Qulinez Remix)

Posted by on May 1, 2012

Coming off of their “A Heavy Abacus” remix, the Swedish duo, Qulinez are back with another remix that is sure to make all of you electro house fans very happy. They take the vocal sample from Don Diablo and weave it throughout the remix, while completely changing the instrumental. They take their signature style of hard pitched synths and growling bass lines and add dub interludes and varying bass lines to give some variation. Their signature synths have been working so far with their past 3 releases (including this one), but Qulinez will need to evolve their sound to stay relevant in this world where new artists are popping up from everywhere. Having the backing from Size & Steve Angello helps a lot, but evolution in an artist’s sound or at least variation is necessary to stay relevant. Also below check out the Keljet remix of the track that has more of a funky nu-disco vibe to and after the jump is a Keljet freebee using 90s vocal samples with a strong funky, disco feel.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electro-House | Sub Focus (feat. Alice Gold) – Out The Blue (Remixes)

Posted by on April 30, 2012

The full remix package for Sub Focus’s incredibly catchy DnB banger “Out The Blue” dropped today, bringing us three markedly different (but independently awesome) takes on the track. My favorite of the bunch is definitely Xilent’s positively liquid dubstep reboot, which dials down the frenetic DnB pace, chops Alice Gold’s vocals, and layers in some seriously heavy wobbles. Laidback Luke, as always, brings the high level of production and hard electro-house flavor he is known for (if that pounding four-on-the-floor break after the drop doesn’t get your head knocking, nothing will). The dark horse here is XXXY, who offers up a throwbacky house interpretation undergirded by a La Bouche-esque drumkit…which in all honesty I’m totally digging. It kind of sounds like something that would be playing at Vidal Sassoon in 1995 and is generally making me want to revisit this glorious nostalgia trip. Check out all three below and snag the original mix if you missed it the first time around.

Electro-House | Dyro & Rene Kuppens – Raid

Posted by on April 30, 2012

Dyro & Rene Kuppens have combined to make this absolute beast of track “Raid” out on Revealed Records. The track starts with rising synth chords and thumping bass line that create a big room feel. Then the track just explodes at around the 2 minute mark with one of the most powerful drops I have heard in a long time with a pounding bass line and pulsing electro synths with layered progressive synth chords and other slight variations in the progression. The creativity and production on this track is top of the line with tons of energy, blasting through your speakers at 110 miles per hour. Expect to hear this throughout the summer festival season.

Electro-House | Calvin Harris – Let’s Go (Live City’s T.K.O Knockout Remix)

Posted by on April 30, 2012

Live City have decided to take on the Calvin Harris single with Ne-Yo “Let’s Go” and remixed it in their hard electro style. It keeps the catchy vocals from Ne-Yo, but flips the instrumental almost entirely on its head leaving some of the original intact in the verses, but adding low end electro synths and heavy drops to give the track more energy and bite. This is a nice change of pace for those who wanted a little more from the original mix and the Calvin Harris remix didn’t cut for them.

DJ-Set, Electro-House, Progressive House | Nicky Romero Essential Mix

Posted by on April 28, 2012

Nicky Romero appeared on BBC Radio One’s legendary Essential Mix show last night and definitely made the most of his opportunity, using every second of the 2 hours allotted to him to display his mastery as a producer and as a Dj mixing seamlessly through his extensive discography with hot tracks from others in the industry, while putting together a few impressive bootlegs such as his “Titanium” remix bootleg. He takes the opportunity to play many of his already released tracks, but he also uses this medium to showcase to the world some of his upcoming tracks including his UMF ID that is now a collaboration with ZROQ called WTF and will be released on Nicky Romero’s own Protocol Records.
He also played much his anticipated collaboration with Avicii “Nicktim”, a new collaboration with David Guetta that sounds great, Sander van Doorn’s upcoming anthem “Nothing Inside”, Dyro & Ansol’s electro house banger “Top Of The World”, and the first radio play of Avicii & Lenny Kravitz – Superlove (Original Mix). Nicky Romero is cementing himself as a superstar in EDM with the ability to produce all sorts of genres moving from his works with Fedde le Grand that have more of a tech feel, to his progressive solo works and those with David Guetta and his harder grimier tracks he has done on his own. The essential mixes coming at us this year have been crazy good with the previous two from Alesso & Arty both being must listens. This is perfect for your Saturday so Nicky Romero start off or continue your raging. Tracklist after the jump.
