Electro-House | John Dahlback – Panic / Whats Up Now

Posted by on October 2, 2012

John Dahlback’s triumphant return to Chris Lake’s music, takes the form of a superb, genre melding two track EP, “Panic / Whats Up Now”. It is really rather incredible how John Dahlback can be getting all of these tracks released in such short span of each other with “Sing That” getting released last week, and “Zeus” not three weeks before that and to jump between styles the way he does shows just how creative and talented a producer he is. “Panic”, as previewed in his 2012 preview compilation, features jarring, grungy synths and pounding bass, while the second track, “What’s Up Now” infuses acid with strong basslines and an aggressive vocal.

Electro-House | Gemini – Freedom

Posted by on October 1, 2012

Well, my Monday just got a whole lot better. It’s been a while since British producer and FNT fave (and perpetual scowler) Gemini has thrown us a bone, so I was pleased when UKF announced the release of “Freedom” in advance of his forthcoming EP. Even better? It’s a free download. Though Gemini is perhaps best known for producing dubstep that manages to be simultaneously melodic and heavy, he also delivers pounding electro house — as evidenced by the title track off his EP Fire Inside. “Freedom” navigates the listener through big, dramatic chords before careening into a surprisingly stripped down drop that has an almost Dutch house vibe. It’s a new direction for the young producer and definitely highlights his versatility.

DJ-Set, Dubstep, Electro-House | The Drop 034 (Jacob Plant Guest Mix)

Posted by on September 28, 2012

The Drop is back with its 34th episode, fresh off of passing 100,000 downloads with a bass heavy selection of tracks with UK producer Jacob Plant on the guest mix. They interview trio Krewella who tell a great story involving Global Dance and Steve Angello. The mix this week features two tracks from Deadmau5’s latest album, the uplifting “Something To Believe In“, Seven Lion’s incredible remix of “The Great Divide” and Nero’s latest free track “Won’t You (Be There)“. Jacob Plant takes over the decks for the last half hour of the show with a ridiculous guest mix, putting together 24 songs in 30 minutes, mixing and mashing songs together, transitioning seamlessly between songs and genres. It is a rare guest mix to hear nowadays when guys have so many guest mix requests and just mail in a half hour mix of 7 or 8 popular songs. You can tell Jacob Plant really put effort into this and by starting with the Torro Torro remix of “Go Deep” he is not taking this lightly. Tracklist after the jump.

Electro-House | Mathy Muso – Blue Balls

Posted by on September 27, 2012

There is a funny story behind the name of this track. Mathy uploaded a clip a few days ago, the clip was all intro and build up with no drop. I knew that before hand, but made a joke how I basically had blue balls because of all the build up and no release…haha. Mathy decided to finish the track and name it “Blue Balls” in honor. Those of you who don’t know what it is, let Google be your friend. I warn you not to search in images as on my search for a picture for this post I have seen things that cannot be unseen, and it really is not what you would expect. Some pictures involved hospitals and guts so to speak, completely changing my reality of the understanding of how bad it can be. Anyways, this turned out to be an awesome Electro-House track.

Electro-House | Kryder – Scorpio

Posted by on September 26, 2012

Out now on Tom Fall’s Trice Recordings, “Scorpio” from Kryder, the UK producer who has been making waves recently not only with his Tiesto championed release last year “K2”, but also his unreal remix with Tom Staar of “Can’t Stop Me Now” that you would have to look to find people who did not support it. He has an upcoming remix of “Don’t You Worry Child” with the aforementioned Tom Staar that we should be hearing a preview of in the next week or so. “Scorpio” fits perfectly into Tom Fall’s label since it has hints of his summer hit “iRok” with the high energy, grungy electro stabs, driving bass line a deftly crafted melody in between the drops.
