Albums | Rapper Austin Fox ? Returns With New Album SCORIAN VALLEY

Posted by on October 22, 2022

Virginia rapper Austin Fox ? has returned with his brand-new album, SCORIAN VALLEY. The 15-track project follows his Ranger396v album, which was released last year to a great reception. Featuring a rugged boom-bap sound with some funky neo-jazz elements intertwined with lo-fi beats and Austin’s smooth rap flow, the album is a must-hear and delves into issues surrounding betrayal that can occur with those closest to you when striving for success. As seen in several of the track titles, fire is the theme of SCORIAN VALLEY (derived from the word “scoria”, which is a volcanic rock).

Elaborating further, Austin says, “SCORIAN VALLEY is the next instalment in my discography and my most exciting project to date. The story continues with my point of view as I journey down the rabbit hole of my pursuit of musical independence within the industry. Since the journey began, it seems like things have started to ‘heat up’ and thus where the fire analogy sort of began. As the album progressed, I wanted to hit a few pockets that I have been leaving out of my music, notably singing and harmonising. The tape promotes the ideals of being content with yourself and learning how to ‘harness the flame’ that can be hard to hold in times of envy and competition.”

The album’s focus track, “Relatives”, features rising UK rapper/producer Tony Bontana, who produced several tracks on the album. The track touches on self-alignment and learning to harness the energy within oneself and is reminiscent of artists such as MF DOOM. Speaking further on the track, Austin says, “‘Relatives’ is a statement on surrounding yourself with those who have your back and are in your best interest. It’s about dealing with that trauma of betrayal from those closest to you.”

Albums | Jachym Borax Shares New Album OSTENTATIOUS STRUGGLES WITH MONOGAMY

Posted by on October 20, 2022

Jachym Borax is an eccentric yet highly detail-oriented rapper/producer, who burst on the scene earlier this year with his debut album, DRUG INDUCED PYSCHOSIS. The rising Los Angeles-based artist presents a nuanced take on trap music by creating genre-bending conceptual albums that are heavily psychologically charged, presenting his flaws and vulnerabilities unapologetically through his unique production and vocal style.

Keeping the momentum rolling following the release of his debut album back in June, Jachym has just unveiled his scintillating new album, OSTENTATIOUS STRUGGLES WITH MONOGAMY, which is led by new single, “THREE 6’0 B******”. Standing out with Jachym’s versatile rap flow, candid lyricism rooted in heartbreak and infectious hooks, the album shines the spotlight on a talented new artist with a huge future ahead. A 10-track conceptual album best consumed in its entirety, it starts off in the midst of a relationship and is a fascinating listen from start to finish.
Elaborating further on the new single and album, Jachym says, “This single serves a very specific role within the context of the album. It’s a story of heartbreak and flawed people interacting with each other. This song in particular provides a dichotomy. It’s not a one-dimensional song and provides both sides of a certain type of lifestyle. It captures the internal conflict of living a high lifestyle while being in a regular lifestyle. People can relate to the concept of heartbreak.” “THREE 6’0 B******” and the rest of the conceptual album are available to buy/stream now on all platforms: https://jachymborax.lnk.to/oswm.

Albums | Los Angeles’ Rjhoff Releases “Love for the Summer

Posted by on October 17, 2022

Just in time for the chilly weather of Fall, Los Angeles based artist Rjhoff has released a new single entitled “Love for the Summer” that most people will resonate with as I’m typing this due to the fact snow is coming soon and cold weather is on the radar for the foreseeable future. His new indie pop jam is a great introduction to his music if you are not yet familiar. Written and produced by Rjhoff himself, it’s a special piece of music that deserves your attention so be sure to check it out above now. Read a quote on the release below now!

‘love for the summer’ is an anthem for rebound relationships. Conflicts often cause us to act in crazy ways, but these moments of honest self-discovery are some of the greatest moments in life. The highs and lows can be hard to handle, but keeping an honest dialogue with ourselves can help us take the actions necessary to grow past any low moment, even if we’re simply looking for a temporary distraction from our feelings.”

Albums | mithrilblue Drops New Track “GET WITH YOU”

Posted by on October 15, 2022

mithrilblue is the experimental bedroom pop project created by William Bucker, who has devised a quite unique path to get to where he is today. Starting off initially as a rapper and inspired by the likes of Kid Cudi and pop rap act Jon Bellion, the Portland based artist started rapping in HS and has evolved a lot since then. While he is a new artist to me I was thoroughly impressed by his new track, “GET WITH YOU”. The song is a chilled and dreamy self described ‘trip-pop’ single that holds so many different angles and delicate moments throughout. Love his hybrid-ness on this one, showing off both his singing and rapping ability. Check out “GET WITH YOU” by mithrilblue above now and keep him on your radar.

Albums | Are We Hunting return via “California Kurt Cobain”

Posted by on October 15, 2022

One of the more interesting song titles I’ve read in a long while comes in through Are We Hunting, the moniker of Northern California based singer/songwriter, Ryan Ayala. After releasing his debut album in 2020, he is finally back with new music. Taking a cinematic approach to his craft, Ayala loves to write as the narrator of a script, and channels this energy into a lovely blend of indie and shoegaze, full of chorus drenched guitars and an ambient, full band sound. While this is the first piece of music I’ve heard by the upcoming artist, I plan to keep him on my radar as this piece of music is truly something special. Check it out above now!

Albums | Multi-instrumentalist Marvel Years concludes conceptual EP series with Voyage Ahead Pt. 2

Posted by on October 13, 2022

Shape-shifting producer and multi-instrumentalist Marvel Years has evolved into an evocative scene-builder. With a blues-inspired, bass-heavy sound, the New York-based, Vermont-born artist has cultivated a fervent fanbase and landed multiple performances at Red Rocks alongside the likes of ZHU, STS9, and Pretty Lights. Now, with years of experience under his belt, Marvel Years has begun to filter his genre-melding electronic soundscapes through a decidedly cinematic lens.

This impressionistic mode is the central thesis of the producer’s Voyage Ahead project, a two-part EP series that takes listeners on a thematic journey from the core basics of the Marvel Years’ brand into exciting new sonic ventures.

With August’s Voyage Ahead Pt. 1, Marvel Years introduced a new creative workflow stemming from the early stages of the pandemic. Frustrated by a lack of live performances, he went beyond studio beat-making and live guitar recordings; to capture the electric spirit of his live set, he played each instrumental element himself in places where he would have used samples. The result was the artist’s most innovative work yet and a showcase for the immense possibilities of what Marvel Years can be.

Now, Marvel Years unleashes Voyage Ahead Pt. 2, a four-track package that concludes the EP series in gritty fashion. Filled to the brim with sun-tinged imagery, Voyage Ahead Pt. 2 vibrantly mixes sweeping guitar solos and intricate electronic craftsmanship into an epic final chapter.

The EP kicks off with “Dive,” a swaggering tone-setter that builds slowly with a triumphant chord progression and futuristic synth sound design. The track then drops into its heavy, earth-shattering beat, blazing synth-leads, and twangy guitar riffs. Next is the EP’s lead single, “Shades On,” a circular embodiment of cool that evokes feelings and images of a Tarantino-style crime tale.

Voyage Ahead Pt. 2 is rounded out by “Looking At The Future,” which incorporates steaming organ chords and infectious vocal samples into the EPs general sonic palette; and “Lexington Ave,” a raucous, climatic, and guitar-laden song that brings the Voyage Ahead series to a thrilling close.
Fans can immerse themselves in the Voyage Ahead universe at Marvel Years’ forthcoming headlining show at Denver’s Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom on Friday, October 7, 2022. The event will vaunt a unique, two-part performance: a solo Marvel Years set preceded by a Marvel Years Trio set featuring Jason Leech alongside Emancipator/Manic Focus drummer Colby Buckler. The solo set will spotlight Marvel Years’ eclectic skills as he bounces between guitar, synths, and the DJ board for a bass-heavy performance. The Marvel Years Trio set will then see the multi-instrumentalist flex his abilities as a bandleader, with the jamtronica sounds from Jason Leech’s keys and the powerful, versatile drumming from Colby Buckler coming together to complement Marvel Years’ more soulful, instrumental-driven sonics.

Marvel Years will also display his live performance prowess on his national Fall Tour, which includes stops in Chicago, Portland and Baltimore.

Albums | New single from Australian producer Late Night Therapy “When you’re gone” is a bop

Posted by on October 10, 2022

Late Night Therapy is a bubbling project out of Australia by the artist Harry Suttor. He is creating a unique blend of electronic music with progressive house elements, which can be likened to a mix between Tame Impala, RUFUS DU SOL and Claptone. His new single “When You’re Gone” is a captivating atmospheric dance record called treat that will get you moving and is tons of fun. Check out a quote from him on the new release below now and stream “When You’re Gone” above right now!

“I actually wrote this tune a couple of years back at a stage where I wasn’t able to finish the song. I’ve always been obsessive and a perfectionist when it comes to my vision. I hear how I want the song to sound in my head, but it took a long time working at the craft to be able to convert my vision to reality. In my previous band we would finish and release the music, but it never actually sounded how I wanted it to sound. We would write and produce the songs but the mixing and mastering always felt like a whole other undertaking that I didn’t feel I had the time to pursue as I was already hot on the pursuit of songwriting, producing and live performance. I tried for years hoping to find the fabled mix engineer that would share my vision but that would never come to fruition.”
