Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Game – “Purp and Patron: The Hangover” | HIP-HOP
Posted by BIGLIFE on February 1, 2011
The Game wasted no time to drop a follow up mixtape to “Purp and Patron”. This latest one is aptly titled “The Hangover” and is filled with more bass bumping tracks that feature a number of established artists like Busta Rhymes, Timbaland, Ghostface, and Kurupt. I’ve posted two cuts off the tape below, including one that proves Timbaland is still armed with the skills that he seemingly refuses to utilize on his “Timbaland Thursday” projects. Download the full project off Datpiff here.

Albums, Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | CHILL RAP | Hoodie Allen’s “Dreams Up”
Posted by GMONEY on January 18, 2011
Hoodie Allen, the New York based rapper and U-Penn graduate, has graced anxious fans with “Dreams Up,” a new single off his upcoming mix-tape, Leap Year. With lyrics like, “I can dream big, I can dream fast,” Hoodie’s new track demonstrates his classic style with an unconventional and up-beat sound.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Hoodie by now. Pep Rally, the mix-tape he dropped last September, transformed him into an online sensation. With over 17,000 likes on Facebook, Pep Rally had bloggers and fans begging for more.
Sampling Oh Land’s “White Nights,” Hoodie’s “Dreams Up” has, four months later, done it again. Although a release date for Leap Year has yet to be set, Hoodie constantly updates his Facebook with information and will surely let fans know soon.
Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | HIP-HOP | Young Prince – WAR
Posted by GMONEY on January 12, 2011
After dropping “Strange Times,” last week we were pumped to hear what Young Prince was going to come up with for this project. Well FNT Nation, it doesn’t disappoint. Young Prince combines smart rhymes with breakthrough production from a slew of the game’s rising stars such as Brenton Duvall and Yala. Check out the full Mixtape on DattPiff. Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | HIP-HOP | Curren$y’s “Return To The Winner’s Circle”
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 2, 2011
I wanted to run through this entire mixtape before covering it on FNT. There aren’t any surprises here (unfortunately), just basically what you’d expect from a vet in the game with an album around the corner: solid production with the usual Curren$y chill rap flair. “Return To the Winner’s Circle” is a solid piece of work but I’m still waiting for Curren$y to create a “breakthrough” project – one that really accelerates his career from his current standing. Although he’s holding onto the music world with a strong grip with notable accolades that range from him being a former Young Money artist (you do still remember that song he did with Lil Wayne “Where Da Cash At” , right?), to his 150k+ fans on twitter, I still don’t consider him a huge force in the game. He’s armed with a unique sound and voice, which he utilizes well with smart lyrics, but he’s moving more laterally than he is vertically it seems. Lets put it this way, I’d be nervous to have him headline a show. Anyways, I’ve posted my favorite cuts below… Abridged version: To me this mixtape is more of a buzz maintainer than producer, something to hold us over until he drops his next album.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | HIP-HOP | Machine Gun Kelly – Lace Up
Posted by Juicebox on December 11, 2010
I have been hesitant to post this but after I downloaded it a couple weeks ago I haven’t been able to take it off. For all you doubters of white rappers, this will impress. After I heard his first song, Chip Off The Block, I thought he was just a white kid who could flow hard but after a listen through this mixtape, he really shows his versatility and mainstream appeal. Check it out and let us know what you think about him. Shout out to all our Ohio fans!
