Progressive House, Trance | Norin & Rad – Bird Is The Word
Posted by Middy on June 18, 2013
While the track may not have the emphatic ring of the 1968 original from the Trashmen, or the Peter Griffin cover, the Norin & Rad release certainly does have its catchy qualities. Anjunabeats has spent much of the past several months basking in the glow of Anjunabeats Volume 10, releasing singles and remixes from the compilation. They now turn to new originals from their stable of producers, this time tabbing American duo, Bruce Karlsson and Nick Sember, aka Norin & Rad for their follow-up to the euphoric “Aldo” on the label. “Bird Is The Word” brings together a chunky bass line, big room synths and a catchy, chirping top line that brings home the theme of the track.

Trance | BT – Skylarking (ilan Bluestone Remix)
Posted by Middy on June 11, 2013
BT is known for his cinematic, orchestral arrangements that stem from not only his scoring of movies, or his live “laptop symphonies”, or how he writes out songs freehand on paper, like an old-fashioned classical composer, but also how he molds melodies and harmonies over long periods of time.
BT recruits two of Anjunabeats‘ finest over to fellow trance label, Armada Music to give him two remixes for his recent single “Skylarking” off of his upcoming artist album “A Song Across Wires“, set for release August 16th. ilan Bluestone has been a name on the rise with singles like “Sinai” and “Capetown” both receiving high praise, while his upcoming single with Jerome Isma-Ae “Under My Skin” has already received support from the rank and file top trance DJs. ilan Bluestone does not mess with the winning formula presented by BT, simply adding his own melodic charm to the track with a churning low-end and a bigger melody that makes this remix more suitable for the live arena, having been played out by the likes of Armin, Tiesto and more. You can also catch the Maor Levi remix on the package, which goes for a more gritty electro feel, but the ilan Bluestone remix really stands out.

Progressive House, Trance | Audien – Iris (Preview)
Posted by Middy on June 11, 2013
From the man who has brought you smash singles like “Eventide” and “Wayfarer”, Nathan Rathburn, professionally known as Audien, returns to the label that helped break him to the heights he has currently ascended to with his latest single “Iris”. It follows the same vein as his previous efforts on the label with a big, emotive melody as the focal point and a playful arp creeping in throughout. Expect this to be played out constantly on trance stages throughout the summer as it gets released July 1st.

Electro-House, Trance | W&W – Thunder
Posted by Middy on May 20, 2013
Arguably the hottest producers right now, their singles “Lift Off” and “The Code“ are still heavily in circulation, while their “This Is What It Feels Like“ remix is the potent remix of choice for Armin van Buuren and many others. Not diverging from their bombastic sound, W&W unleash another massive track that follows much of the same structure and winning formula as “The Code”, providing an unrelenting bass line and thunderous synths.
One can criticize them for sticking to their sound too much or going with a sound that is becoming more and more common, but you have to remember that they helped bring this style to the mainstream and others followed them. Coming up, the gigantic Dutch duo have their collab with Hardwell, which was just recently finished, as well a few IDs on the way.

Electro-House, Trance | W&W – Thunder (Preview)

The world was still trying to come back to earth after “Lift Off“, when W&W in association with Ummet Ozcan unleashed “The Code” on the world, sparking mainstages and clubs afire. “The Code” is still heavily in circulation, but that has not stopped W&W from keeping up their nearly vertical assent to the top of the dance music world with another production destined to take them there, “Thunder“. The aptly named “Thunder” continues their recent run of high energy, booming tracks that propel their stardom higher with each passing day. Look for this on May 20th.
