It was not long ago that I would be driving around with my window slightly down (enough so that people could hear the music, but not enough as to make people think that I wanted them to hear the music) with Calvin Harris’ “Summer” on repeat impressing the heck out of all the girls I’d pass. That impresses them you can trust me. Especially Punjabi people. The original is probably in my top 10 of the year so far and will therefore make any remix I hear of it not sound all too well in comparison. Elephante’s remix, however, does sound well in comparison. It has some electro elements in addition to the usual progressive that his songs consist of, which differentiates it significantly and provides an interesting take on the original.

It has been too long since we have heard from you Nero. Oh how I have missed the controlled aggression that simply sounds like nobody else’s handiwork. Their ability to combine female vocals, orchestral arrangements and a thunderous dark bass line makes them among dubstep’s elite. “Satisfy” is the first we have heard from them in a long time and bodes well for their upcoming album set for release later this year.

It was put on my radar two days back, and I have to admit, I should’ve listened to it the minute it was sent to me, it’s that epic! From support by the likes of Snake, Diplo, and Carnage, be sure to keep Slander on your music radar, because at the looks of things, or I should say the sounds of things, their future is looking bright! This is Kasbo’s third appearance on FNT, and he is finally getting some of that recognition elsewhere with growing attention from Cream Collective and Trap City. The 18 year old Swedish producer has a new track out called “Reaching”. This unique lovetrap style song has a bouncy drum pattern and a melody that will stick in your head long after you listen. Trap City described it as “a chill release with summer vibes”. You can grab it from Slimkat Records on Beatport.

Over here at FNT we’re die hard DIEHIGH fans so it came as no surprise that I was instantly hooked by one of their latest releases showcasing LA-based newcomer Ostra. This EP is pretty interesting considering the two very different approaches taken with each track. The first, “Won’t Do” will cater perfectly for those Wave Racer fans out there meanwhile the second is a fascinating collage of latin guitar, Mr.Carmack-esque trap, and crowds chanting. Diggin’ the originality. Cop this EP and keep an eye out for future releases from this newbie.
