Progressive House | Imagine Dragons – It’s Time (Lucas Bojakowski Summer Mix)
Posted by Mel on July 14, 2013
I am moderately sick so I will make this quick. I am well aware that remixes of “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons are plentiful and I even believe a couple have already been posted. That doesn’t matter though, because this one is my new favorite. I have high standards, especially for tracks that have been posted before, so I can assure you that this is worth a listen even if you have a different remix of it you enjoy.

Progressive House | Axwell – Center Of The Universe (Jetique Summer Reboot)
Posted by Mel on July 12, 2013
Seeing as how the original is so great and Axwell has incredible hair, I did not think there would be a producer who would be capable of crafting a remix that would do it justice. Jetique is a 19 year old from good old Germany and has done just that. His remix retains nothing from the original, except for the vocals of course, and instead goes for a grittier yet uplifting vibe. He did an absolutely tremendous job on this. So much so that I’m having trouble deciding which version I like better.

Progressive House | First State ft. Fenja – Battle Of Hearts
Posted by Mel on July 8, 2013
Ever since I first heard a preview of this last month, I have been eagerly awaiting today’s date. First State makes some incredible progressive tracks and this is no different. I just love everything about this song. There is no further description needed. Take a listen, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Progressive House | Pressure Cooker Feat Ryan Ellingson – Only You (Stereoshock Remix)
Posted by Mel on July 7, 2013
Having listened to this song for a few days now, I can tell you that Stereoshock’s productions just keep getting better and better. I was a big fan of his “Trembling Hands” remix and was curious how he’d follow up to it. He did so terrifically with his own spin on Pressure Cooker’s “Only You”. The theme of this remix is a lot different than his previous, however. With the clicking of camera’s, chirping of seagulls, and subtle effects such as the breaking of glass or falling of rain, the summer theme is very apparent and well represented. He said that his goal was to “compliment the emotions of the protagonist with vivid imagery of a summertime romance” and while I don’t know anything about romance, the imagery of summertime is definitely there. Everything about this track from the vocals of Ryan Ellingson to the natural beach sounds is superb. Stereoshock keeps improving and he’ll soon be releasing his first original, which is already shaping up to be great.

Progressive House | Ryan Riback & Terri B – Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow (Marcus Santoro Remix)
Posted by Mel on July 5, 2013
In his admittedly short catalogue of releases so far, Marcus Santoro has already shown that he is a versatile producer capable of creating excellent tracks in a different variety of styles. His latest remix demonstrates this diversity perfectly with the first half being more old school progressive, having a vibe very similar to pre SHM Axwell, and then transitioning to the euphoric, festival sound that he does so well for the second drop. The mainstream sound is definitely there, but he manages to avoid falling into the trap of generic house with tracks like this. How he has not blown up outside of Australia is a mystery to me.

Progressive House | OneRepublic – Counting Stars (Lonczinski Remix)
Posted by Mel on July 2, 2013
We’ve already heard many OneRepublic remixes but, at least for me, this was the first “Counting Stars” remix I’ve come across. I have become very familiar with Lonczinski’s style, probably because it is as generic as they come. That doesn’t mean it’s not good though. Well, kind of. These types of songs are good for a few days, but will you be listening to it two weeks from now? Unlikely. It’s producers like this who need to step out of the box and make something with staying power. Sure, this song’s not bad, it’s actually quite good seeing as how I feel the desire to post it, but this type of music is shallow and if a producer only sticks to this formula then they are clearly taking the easy way out. You should know something is wrong when a person can say “yeah, this is a good song” after listening and still not care enough to download it.

Progressive House | Chris Reece – Complicated
Posted by Mel on July 1, 2013
Living in the Texas of Canada, I naturally have a tendency to enjoy country music. I’m not really sure if country is big in texas but with all the cowboy hats and horses there I have to assume it is. You may also notice horses and a gentleman with a cowboy hat in the song art above so you should probably know what I’m alluding to. Part of the Helvetic Nerds, Chris Reece is a long established producer. It’s sort of his thing to fuse different genres, such as jazz and rock into the standard progressive house formula. In “Complicated”, his latest release, the style he has chosen to infuse is country. This song is likely not for everybody, especially if you hate cute little puppies and freedom, but this was the first song I have bought in a long time (though on a pre-paid visa my aunt got me for christmas, no way I’m using my own money) so I thought I should share. If you give it a try you might like it. If not, well then I only have one thing to say. If you think it’s a good idea for the storyline to involve a lengthy massage, it’s not.
