Progressive House | Andero & Nectum ft. Ian Everson – Gravity (Robin Hagglund Remix)
Posted by JT on November 10, 2014
Last week, Robin Hagglund took us on a walk down memory lane with “Flashback” and today he’s taking us on an interstellar rollercoaster ride with “Gravity.” Grounding us with his take on this originally big-room banger, Robin Hagglund steps it up with this phenomenally syncopated tune; the energy isn’t lost, only relocated. It is a crime to give this many eargasms in one sitting.

Trance | Ferry Tayle feat. Sarah Shields & Ludovic H – The Most Important Thing (Falcon Remix)
Posted by JT on November 9, 2014
Calling all Trance Warriors! Fresh off the press at Always Alive Recordings, American trance producer Nate Kozlowski (Falcon) has brought us his take at Ferry Tayle’s “The Most Important Thing” and is this track fire. The guitar strings follow a transition from heart-melting vocals, stealing us away from reality. Euphoric would be an understatement. Nate has received support for his music from top trance DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Dash Berlin, Aly & Fila, Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz and Roger Shah. Nate also had the opportunity to debut his DJ career at EDC Orlando in 2012 after winning Insomniac’s Discovery Project contest.
This track is a prime example of uplifting trance – to all my friend who are not afraid of 138, expect this one to become an essential tune for your favourite DJ’s toolkit.

Albums | A Sense of Wonder by Dan Sieg
Posted by JT on November 8, 2014
A Sense of Wonder is an album entirely dedicated to our generation of lovers, adventurers, and dreamers. It is an album that inspires, musically narrating tales of victory and defeat caught in between simple moments and complex realities. It is an album that innovates, as Dan Sieg demonstrates he’s unafraid to play with our emotions by experimenting with both the uplifting and dark sides of progressive trance. He reminds us that curiosity doesn’t always lead to a sense of discovery – it can bite you right back. Released by the titan’s of progressive trance and house, Silk Royal Records, A Sense of Wonder can be commended for defining “Progressive Trance,” as it is truly a work of art.
Dan Sieg hasn’t always gone by this moniker. He paved his path into progressive trance as Dan & Sam (Sam Wilkinson) and after showcasing the timeless “Walls” with sensational vocalist Maxx Hennard (an XM Electric Area 52 favorite), the floodgates had opened. Dan couldn’t slow down. He released over 30 originals and remixes in the past year, all in lieu of perfecting A Sense of Wonder. Indeed, Dan’s 17 years of musical endurance, which started with guitar at age 8, is vividly displayed in the depth of the chords here – every pluck, bass line, build up, and transition is strategically placed to create this front to end masterpiece.
Every track has its story. Some are the product of empty nights filled with endless streams of thought, others a reflection of friends and memories made in unexpected circumstances. The album starts with the uplifting “Iris” and permeates the path for the journey we are about to begin. A Sense of Wonder plays with our emotions, bringing us summertime sadness with a track like “Gloom,” and then elevating us back to cloud 9 with “Erko.” He even curates a rendition of techno with the clever “Techbruary,” a track that took me completely off-guard when first blessing my speakers. The album has received support from artists of all kind, with “Welcome To The Alley” being showcased on Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy episode 99. A Sense of Wonder concludes with “Horizons,” a progressive track that soundscapes all five senses to attention. Dan Sieg has become imprinted permanently as a progressive trance guru with this glorious release, so be prepared and grab a parachute, because grounding yourself is not an option.

Whose ready to make love to house music? Spencer Tarring brings us a special treat from the Shanghai valley. With vocals this smooth (which are recordings of himself) and a beat this fat its a sure party-starter. A guaranteed club-banger, “House Music” will pump soul onto any lifeless dancefloor. The kid is fresh to the scene but he’s already found support from some big players – Firebeatz, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Thomas Gold, Laidback Luke, and Sander Van Doorn. This is not someone you want to miss, so cop this free download ASAP.
Bass, Drum & Bass | Alex Metric – Heart Weighs A Ton (Mat Zo Remix)
Posted by JT on November 5, 2014
As usual, you really have no idea what you’re about to get into when pressing play on a brand new Mat Zo track – and that’s exactly why we have a bit of a broner for the dude. His bi-weekly Mat Zo Mixes (see Soundcloud) are the epitome of “Doin It Live” – this track confirms that Mat Zo isn’t about genre restrictions. Damage Control quite possibly was one of the best albums to put EDM onto its ass in the last decade and the producer/dj is showing no signs of exhaustion. He’s getting ready to hit the road and break-in his brand new label, Mad Zoo in the coming months – here’s an exquisite taste of what to expect.
