Hip-Hop | e-dubble – Cycle of Nightmares (Let It Go)
Posted by Jess on November 1, 2012
e-dubble lets loose one more track before his upcoming Reset EP drops Nov. 6th. The song is one of the more personal songs off the upcoming EP but he says despite its name, it is more “an anthem for deep breaths.” Read the story behind the song below.
“I wrote “Cycle of Nightmares” during a time of personal turmoil and uncertainty. I was not necessarily expecting it to be used as a song on my album, but rather as a kind of litmus test for me as a musician. I believed that if I could finish the song, and trudge through the literal and metaphorical dissonance that was both the music and my life at the time, that I would emerge with renewed energy and esteem for my craft. Wishful thinking, but as it turned out, that was half the battle.
Prior to finishing the track I was having trouble just putting one foot in front of the other, and the music I was trying to make seemed completely insignificant when I looked at the bigger picture. Which is where I was stuck, trying to bring context to everything in my life, overvaluing the tangible things, and completely undervaluing the importance of creative expression and emotion. It was as if there was a track stuck on repeat in my head telling me that my hopes and dreams were meaningless and that every task was insurmountable. I wrote “Cycle” as a rebuttal to that thought, and in exposing my vulnerabilities I found that I still had a great deal of strength left.” – e-dubble

Hip-Hop, Videos | PropaneLv & Chi Duly – Heard It Through The Grapevine (Remix)
Posted by Jess on October 29, 2012
In the midst of preparing for a hurricane to hit NYC, literally, producer Chi Duly and PropaneLv come together to put a new spin on Heard It Through The Grapevine. The collaboration is a slight departure from Lv’s series of more current pop remakes. Had to take it back on this one:
“Had to do this. It brings back memories of my dad banging on things in the garage, smelling like grease, and grabbing beers from the kitchen. It’s a big hairy american classic and I absolutely love it.”

Solidisco does it again with an amazing funk-filled reworking of the George Benson classic “Turn Around”. These guys have been on a roll lately and this new original is sure to continue that trend. They say that “this is the type of music you wear a leopard print suit to. Vibe music.” If that doesn’t make you want to listen, I don’t know what will. Grab the free download below.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Eric D’Alessandro – What Happened To Rap? [Music Video]
Posted by Jess on October 25, 2012
Found this randomly while browsing Reddit tonight.. Eric D’Alessandro raps about the rap game in a humorous way. The sad thing is that this is better than most of rap out there. What do you think? Can anyone rap now?
