Hip-Hop, Videos | Mike Ballz – Letter To My Former Self (Video)
Posted by J_Salzer on March 22, 2012
Don’t be fooled by his artist name. Mike Ballz is NOT messing around. Fresh off the successes of his debut mixtape, The World According To Ballz, that I had the honor of handling on my old blog. When he sent over the video for one of my favorite tracks I was ecstatic. I was super amped about watching, but after watching the first 2 mintues, I thought I was watching the wrong video. Little did I know it was just setting the stage for the story Mike goes on to tell. This track was also produced by Mike, and samples one of my favorite tracks of 2011 The Cave by Mumford and Sons.
Hip-Hop | Nardwuar vs. Action Bronson
Posted by J_Salzer on March 21, 2012
Well isn’t this a gem. Fresh off SXSW. Nardwuar interviews the white Rick Ross, Action Bronson. Nardwuar is easily my favorite interviewer in the game. He does his research, as you can tell by his numerous personalized gifts he ALWAYS graces artists with. His questions are always deep and thought provoking. Anytime I watch one of Nardwuar’s interviews, I gain an entirely different view of whoever is being interviewed. Get familiar with Action Bronson.
Electro, Mainstream Remix | Rihanna – We Found Love (D Nilsz Remix)
Posted by J_Salzer on March 21, 2012
Let me start this of by saying that I’m a hip-hop blogger. Being near the electro section makes me nervous. Hell, being around electro music makes me nervous. Now that I’ve used more qualifiers than Childish Gambino, let me explain my motives. I recently learned that a cat from my high school started producing after he graduated and went to Cornell. When I got an email regarding music from an alum of my alma mater, I wanted to like it, because my school word and my music world usually don’t clash. D Nilsz made is easy. Flawlessly adding his own touch to songs while still keeping the same elements that made them hits. Also, D Nilsz has produced for like likes of Dylan Owen and Chance Fischer. In addition to the We Found Love remix, I’ve also added a few more as bonuses. Remember the name, D Nilsz, you’ll be seeing a lot of it.
Hip-Hop | Mayo – Blue Sky(Remix)
Posted by J_Salzer on March 19, 2012
At this point, remixes have to be pretty unique to stand out to me. Mayo’s remix of Common’s Blue Sky was. It was a pretty courageous move to go in over a beat used by the Drake dissing Common, but it paid off. The 17 year old has a commanding flow, that will only get better with age. This remix is just a taste of what we’ll be seeing on his sophomore mixtape. The Blue Sky is the limit for young Mayo, like his facebook page, and be sure to check back on FNT to see his progress.

Hip-Hop | Nas – The Don
Posted by J_Salzer on March 18, 2012
Nasty “Escobar Nastradamus” Nas is back, offering up his highly anticipated single showing us why he’s still one of hip-hop’s biggest heavyweights. Sampling elements from his famed “Illmatic” album, Nas paints a picture with words, delivering a deeply cerebral masterpiece worthy of even Michael Corleone’s approval. Stream the track below. It’s truly an offer you can’t refuse.
