ZUSO is a project from Australian producer Gabriel Cuenca, who is crafting an invigorating atmospheric-house sound that can be likened to a mix between Rufus Du Sol, Lane 8 and Flume. Today he is back with his latest offering with new single “Hold Me”, which is being released via indie imprint LOVE CLVB and it’s a mellow vibe. Soothing atmospherics and escapism are two reoccurring themes found in most of ZUSO’s music and it’s the perfect vibe for a rainy day. Tune in above now!

“I wrote the beat quite quickly and then I found the vocal sample in this sample-pack that I remembered using ages ago for one of the first ever demos I made. It just had such a nice chilled and gentle vibe which I really loved. I wanted the song to give off this wholesome calming energy and the ‘Hold Me’ vocal fits that tone perfectly. It definitely has the escapism feel to it as well, which is a common theme I base a lot of my music off. I then added some nice emotionally driven chords and pads along with a nice guitar riff just to add to that feeling, and yea hopefully it’s something you can all relate to and enjoy.” ~ ZUSO

Albums | New single from Australian producer Late Night Therapy “When you’re gone” is a bop

Posted by on October 10, 2022

Late Night Therapy is a bubbling project out of Australia by the artist Harry Suttor. He is creating a unique blend of electronic music with progressive house elements, which can be likened to a mix between Tame Impala, RUFUS DU SOL and Claptone. His new single “When You’re Gone” is a captivating atmospheric dance record called treat that will get you moving and is tons of fun. Check out a quote from him on the new release below now and stream “When You’re Gone” above right now!

“I actually wrote this tune a couple of years back at a stage where I wasn’t able to finish the song. I’ve always been obsessive and a perfectionist when it comes to my vision. I hear how I want the song to sound in my head, but it took a long time working at the craft to be able to convert my vision to reality. In my previous band we would finish and release the music, but it never actually sounded how I wanted it to sound. We would write and produce the songs but the mixing and mastering always felt like a whole other undertaking that I didn’t feel I had the time to pursue as I was already hot on the pursuit of songwriting, producing and live performance. I tried for years hoping to find the fabled mix engineer that would share my vision but that would never come to fruition.”

DO SOMETHING

Albums | Check out “Sunshine” by Australian producer, Fonteray

Posted by on September 15, 2022

Fonteray is a bubbling new project out of Australia by rising artist, Drew McCarty. His sound is a hybrid concoction of sounds blending together psychedelic indie-dance and chill-wave music that can be likened to a mix between Toro Y Moi, Jungle and Washed Out. His new single “Fonteray” is a feel good track that is a great introduction to the up-and-coming project. Tune into the track above now and read a quote from the artist on his release below now!

“The rough idea of ‘Sunshine’ has actually been around for a while now. There’s a video on my Instagramof me improvising a variation of the bassline over the chords from 2018, which was long before Fonteray even existed. It wasn’t until earlier this year that I found a super early demo of it that I had completely forgotten about. I was vibing with the bassline of it and was sort of hit by this melody idea for the chorus. I immediately demo’d it out again and essentially wrote out the whole song in one sitting. Lyrically, I tend to lean on hazy, dreamlike imagery because that’s the vibe I want the song to evoke overall. Where I can, I like to leave it somewhat vague, to leave space for the listener to insert whoever comes to mind when they hear the song. Particularly with a song like Sunshine which is ultimately about a relationship that didn’t work out butcan still be reflected upon fondly.Although I had a complete demo when it came time to record the song, I opted to essentially start from scratch once in the studio. Working with long-time collaborator Michael Belsar (Hayden James, Hunting Grounds) in his Abbotsford studio, we wanted to make sure the song had freedom to grow naturally, and that we weren’t constraining it with pre-existing ideas of what it should sound like. Leaning into this ‘serve the song’ mentality, meant we added a bunch of things that we normally wouldn’t, like acoustic guitar, and live upright piano because of the character it added to thesong. For me this song feels like an evolution stylistically towards what I am trying to achieve sonically when I write music. A sound which marries vintage and modern sounds, something that is just as evocative as it is danceable. With tight grooves, a sprinkle of psychedelia and a slight nod to my funk/soul influences.” ~ Fonteray

Albums | Australian Talent 44 Ardent Releases “intothedeep”

Posted by on July 7, 2022

Rising Australian producer has a new EP on the way this August, and to help hold us over until that drops he has released the title track to the forthcoming project via this vibey new track “intothedeep”. If you’re a fan of unique sound design that is house infused (think Four Tet or Tourist), I am very confident you will enjoy the tune above. Check it out now!

intothedeep is probably my favourite song on the whole record. I was a bit self-indulgent with the synths and the sound design on this one and didn’t hold back! The song sort of sucks you right in with a wall of sound as soon as the drum fill hits and then it spits you back out for a little bit before a totally different wall of sound at the one-minute mark. I’ve mentioned previously that the EP is loosely themed around climate change. I suppose this is the “ocean” song. I can imagine it being played with a powerful stormy ocean in the background.” –44 Ardent
