Exclusive: Meet 16 year old popstar Lila from Norway
Posted by VMan on July 20, 2018
The Scandinavians are known for leading the way when it comes to pop music, providing the sounds, songs, and artists that have been dominating the top 40 charts; which has always lead me to question the chemicals in their drinking water… On this note, meet Lila, a 16 year old pop star from Norway, who has been releasing music since she was 11, with her first single ‘Give Your Heart A Break’ accumulating half a million streams on Spotify.
We had a chance to speak to Lila on her latest single ‘2020,’ and how she got to making music, and taking over the pop world. Press more for the jump!
What is the song ‘2020’ about?
«2020» is about how the community creates a picture of how you should be, which leads us to create unrealistic ideals for ourselves. Now that I see in 20/20 vision, I see so well that what I should have realized before is that everything is in our heads.
When did you know you wanted to be a singer, and who inspired you to do so?
I knew I wanted to be a singer when I was nine years old. My mom has always inspired me, because she has learned me everything I know. But the reason why I wanted to be a singer came from my love for feelings in music. To feel the different moods and meanings of the songs, and so I began to create for myself.
What track have you been listening to on repeat lately?
I have been listening to the classic “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Toploader! It makes me feel so good on late summer nights with my friends.
If you could work with anyone, who would it be and why?
It would be a dream to work with the Norwegian producers Stargate! They have so much experience in the industry and have created a lot of my favorite songs.
Where do you see Lila in 10 years?
Hopefully I have traveled a lot with my music around the world, with people that makes me smile. Maybe I have a supportive husband and maybe a child? Or two? Haha! Maybe I live in Norway or in another county, but get to see my familiy once in a while. And hopefully I live a very, very happy and lovely life.
And what’s next for you?
At the moment I’m working a lot in the studio. Trying to figure my own thing, as well as finding producers that matches what I want to make. I’m also writing a lot by myself, and dream about releasing a beautiful and relatable ballad very soon :*
