Chris Rene – Trouble
Posted by Grubeats on June 28, 2012
Following his breakout single, that had millions around the world asking “Young homie, what you trippin’ on?”, Chris Rene releases the second single off his debut studio album. Despite the success the Santa Monica native saw with “Young Homie” after he inked a deal with L.A. Reid and Epic Records, a subdivision of Sony Music, the pressure was still on for the second single. Naturally, we all questioned whether Rene was more than a garbage-picking-smooth-rhyme-kicking-SoCal phenomenon. Chris just squashed any signs of doubt with his newest release, “Trouble”, appropriately suited for the season.
Upon first listen, I thought producer Busbee may have pulled a sample from Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s “Over The Rainbow” while it sounds like strums from a ukulele carrying on throughout the song. Holding true to his dynamic “pop intertwined with the occasional hip-hop verse or beat kick” sound, this song is sure to take off this summer. What do you think, did Chris make it over the one-hit-wonder speed bump?
