Hip-Hop, Rap | Cooper Davis – Good Morning

Posted by on March 7, 2014

Being a writer for a music blog as well as an aspiring worker in the music industry, sometimes its hard to ever focus on your own work while still trying to immerse yourself in everybody else’s styles and projects because staying up to date with the industry is almost a necesity. So, today I thought I’d share a project of my own that’s been slowly developing over the past seven months as I lived in Milwaukee, WI. What is in Milwaukee you ask? Well, Cooper Davis. It’s still kind of hazy how Cooper and I became connected from opposite ends of the country, but somehow it happened, and I found myself traveling all the way from the sunny sides of California to snow-covered-cars-every-morning Wisconsin. The time spent there though through all the snow storms and ice-skidding stops was well worth the wait. ‘Destiny N Dynasty’s’ Cooper Davis is definitely a rapper that should be on your radar, with his charismatic smile and low-key personality, and an extreme aware of consciousness that would surprise anyone from face-value. Even though there’s more to come, Cooper Davis presents you with “Good Morning”, the first of more to come.

Hip-Hop | F. Stokes ft. Huey Mack – My Simple (Remix)

Huey Mack is back with another remix and this time he takes his hand at F. Stoke’s hit song, “My Simple”. Most of you are probably wondering who F. Stokes is as I was myself. I did a little research and he’s an upcoming artist out of Madison, Wisconsin and this song is a love letter to his small town in the USA. Huey Mack adds a nice addition to the song as he spent most of his childhood growing up in the small town of Morgantown, WV. Grab the free download below and if you’re interested take a look at F. Stokes SoundCloud for more of his music.

Electro-House | Lana Del Ray – Video Games (Sugar Mill Remix)

Posted by on January 8, 2013

I was recently introduced to Sugar Mill, a rising Electro House duo based out of Wisconsin, and fell in love with their remix of Lana Del Ray “Video Games”. The remix does a great job of keeping with the original melodies and transforming the song into an incredible Electro House tune. It is one of their older works and I’m sure they have some bangers lined up to be released in the near future. In the meantime, check out their back catalog on Soundcloud and become a fan of them on Facebook.

Upcoming lady killer in the making, Nick Luebke is back with not only a new song, but a nice simple set a visuals to accompany it. This time around he remixes “Numb” by Usher making this the first remix he’s done since he first took the internet by storm in March with his “Call Me Maybe” remix. Just over a week ago I had the opportunity to see Nick Luebke perform as he opened for Mike Stud on two of his last four dates. He put on a good performance and his voice sounded great live. It’s only up from here.

Hip-Hop, Indie, Videos | Nick Luebke – The Run Around ft. TO [Music Video]

If you’re looking to take the fast track to fame, I recommend remixing “Call Me Maybe” 2 months ago.  Wisconsin artist Nick Leubke did just that and has since accumulated over 330,000 hits on Youtube.  Surprisingly, that’s not what caught my ear.  I was introduced to this kid today and can’t deny his musical charisma.  His sound is authentic and his voice is pretty decent.  He picks up a feature from fellow Wisconsin MC, TO, while production comes from TO’s right hand man, Too Shade.
