Most artists prefer to spend a solid portion of the year in the studio, working on an EP or an album, and spending the rest of the year touring, but EDX seems to have found a way to marry the two successfully, allowing him to tour while still putting out stunning releases. He’s currently in the midst of his massive “Want You” tour, but he’s delivered a Beatport chart-topping remix of Sam Feldt’s “Show Me Love,” and now, he’s unveiled his “Miami Sunset” remix of Spada’s “Catchfire.” The remix is a two-faced monster – EDX keeps the summery vibes of Spada’s original untouched, but gives the track a deep groove, turning it into a dance floor heater. The remix is due out on July 6th via EGO.

Abstract Hip-Hop, Albums, Artists, Chill, Freestyle, Pop | Leah Haxhi Hits Hard with Summer Single- “Fade”

Posted by on June 21, 2015

You’ve seen Leah’s unique covers here on Fresh New Tracks before, but this time NYC singer/songwriter Leah Haxhi drops her first single “Fade,” with music produced in Brooklyn by Mike Irish. The track mixes minimalistic piano with jam-sesh vibes to create a natural, catchy feel that blends pop, R&B, hip-hop, and even subtle jazz elements into a chilled groove, ready for the hot city summer. With a June 21st release date, “Fade” is the perfect summer anthem, setting the tone for “driving down the highway” and blasting music while “everybody sings along.” The single is paired with high quality visuals from the hands of Matt Phipps, filmmaker and creator of SkatersAtlas.com.

Leah says “I wrote this song last year on my birthday. I was in the studio free-styling and picturing myself flying down the highway with my boyfriend at the time just listening to music on the way to the beach, fading away into that moment of complete contentment and happiness. This song is an expression of that feeling, no matter what you’re doing in life.” Be on the lookout for more tunes from Leah, as she continues the countdown to her debut album release later this year. Be sure to follow her on Soundcloud as well as @LeahHaxhi on social media for info on her latest shows, music, and releases.

Leeyou & Danceey, two brothers who are based out of Düsseldorf, Germany, have been making music for most of their lives. After years of working with other artists, including heavyweights like Akon, they wanted to be true to themselves and their art by developing their own music. L&D were recently announced as the winners of the remix competition for Kap Slap’s first original song, “Let It All Out.”

“We heard the original song and really liked what Kap Slap did, and once we found out there was a remix competition we thought we might as well give it a shot and give the song our own twist,” says L&D.

The duo’s deep house remix of this tune really displays their capabilities as producers in the studio. This may be the best thing coming out of Germany since Apfelstrudel.

While most artists prefer to split up their time touring and working on music in the studio, EDX always seems ready to do both. Even in the midst of his “Want You” North American tour, the veteran producer has managed to find time to deliver his latest effort, an X-Booty of his remix of “Uruguay,” dubbed, “I Found U in Uruguay.” An expert fusion of Axwell’s “I Found You,” with his chart-dominating remix of “Uruguay,” “I Found U in Uruguay” maintains the house backbone of EDX’s remix, while the track is further elevated by the soulful vocals of Max’C. The Swiss-based DJ has been playing this bootleg out on his NoXcuses podcast recently, but it’s finally seeing the light of day, and you can snag the free download here.

Hip-Hop, Indie | Sunkissed (Vol. 1)

shemce.sunkissed.vol1There are very few producers who can claim to have elevated to the top in 4 short months and cop a record deal with Sony Records. Coming out of studio hibernation-mode, David Youssef (Shèmce) has released hit after hit, many of which he showcases in the first of his Sunkissed series. He has embraced Tropical House as his religion and is well on his way to shaping the future direction of this genre.
David Youssef - Stages
Volume 1 begins with a fresh, tropical squeeze of Notorious BIG’s “Juicy,” a re-fix that would have the king of flow himself vibing. Think of your favourite beach, because that’s where Shèmce wants to take you. He’s no stranger to giving a crowd what it wants; before becoming captain of the Tropical House ship, he pioneered his way into the industry as resident DJ of a small-town club. Think twice, this is the same venue that saw Skrillex, Avicii, Zedd, Dada Life, Porter Robinson, Rusko, and Benny Benassi (to name a few) bless its decks (this was also when tickets were $20 … the good ol’ days). It only makes rational sense that a producer/DJ of David’s calibre has risen through the haze of heavy bass, broken glowsticks, half-empty water bottles, and endless streams of stage-rages. He lives two lives, prescribing the right dosage of feel-good therapy during the day, and heavy dancefloor beats during the night.

Expect the unexpected, ladies and gentleman – let him take you to church. In Shèmce’s heart, its always summer and this series is a testament to his philosophy. Thanks to David for this bit of “Free Sunshine.” – we here at FNT are very excited to watch Shèmce grow in the coming months and years.

Now one and half years later, one the eve on the biggest show of his career, joining Above & Beyond for ABGT100 at Madison Square Garden, we had the chance to chat with the DC based producer about his feelings on the show, how life has been over the past year and a half and what he has coming up.
