Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Grip Grand – GG DOOM! BUT HOW?
Posted by Mach on April 24, 2013
A San Francisco native going by the name, Grip Grand, took it upon himself to use 12 different acapellas from the legendary MF DOOM and remix them into this mixtape. MF DOOM, who is known for not being accepting of remixes of his works, actually posted this up on his Facebook, mind blown. After taking a full listen to the mixtape, I understand why the rapper was ok with these remixed works. The beats do not only sound like classic DOOM, but the other samples used in the tracks leave me wondering if he actually played a part in the production of these. Whether or not he actually did (most likely not), it is really cool to see him support remixes of his works like this.

Albums, Hip-Hop, Videos | Sam Lachow Presents: Young Seattle Part 2
Posted by J_Salzer on April 1, 2013
Seattle has one of the hottest hip-hop scenes in the country. All of the sounds that come from there are unique, and the various artists featured on Sam Lachow’s Young Seattle are no different. The video itself is cool, and is filmed almost like a cypher. My favorite verse is probably the second, as Gift Uh Gab absolutely kills it. The verse by Sam’s partner in crime, Raz Simone, is also a work of beauty. Even though there are so many different types of rap featured in this video, it’s good to see that they can all mesh and all support each other. Check out the video above and download the track for free here.
Electro, Trance | Ummet Ozcan – Here & Now
Posted by Middy on March 25, 2013
You could not go an hour without hearing his collab with W&W “The Code” on the various stages at Ultra across the two weekends and with his previous single “The Box”, still meandering its way into sets, it is fair to say Ummet Ozcan is here to stay. “Here & Now” represents the harder, more in your face sound we have heard in his hits lately but still remains true to his trance roots with bombastic synths, a driving bass line, distorted key play and soothing progressive trance interludes. “Here & Now” is already picking up support from the likes of Porter Robinson, W&W, Arty, Sander van Doorn and many more, so do not miss this one.

Events | A State Of Trance 600 New York After Parties
Posted by Middy on March 8, 2013
The afterparties for A State Of Trance 600 in New York have been announced with 3 of the acts performing that night at MSG taking the stage at two seperate venues, Best Buy Theater and Pacha NYC. Marcus Schulz will be performing alongside his friend and frequent collaborator, Ferry Corsten at Pacha with Mike Saint-Jules in support. At the Best Buy Theater, W&W will be headlining alongside Jochen Miller and local Eco in what should be a heavier after party. Both of the shows have their distinct advantages / differences in terms of venue, lineup etc, so make the decision and be ready to continue going once MSG kicks everyone out before 1am. Progressive House | Dimitri Vegas, Moguai & Like Mike – Mammoth
Posted by Middy on March 5, 2013
One of the most sought after IDs from Tomorrowland 2012, the aptly named “Mammoth” from Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike with the help of German producing star Moguai is finally out. Moguai has been a little silent lately on the production front, while Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been releasing a spree high powered, high energy tracks to start the year. However this one is in a class of its own when it comes to 2013 releases from the 3 of them. “Mammoth” relishes in blistering synth chords, a pitched lead and a grinding low end that gives this melodic yet tough track the power it needs throughout. Already seeing support from just about all of the top Djs, look for “Mammoth” to be among of the first contenders for one the the best tracks in 2013.
Progressive House | Rune RK, Andreas Moe – Power Of You And Me (Teacup) (Michael Brun Remix)
Posted by Middy on February 26, 2013
Fast rising star, Michael Brun gives us his first production of the year ahead of his incoming EP, a remix of Rune RK’s new original with Swedish vocalist Andreas Moe, “Power Of You And Me”. Michael Brun takes full advantage of Andreas Moe’s soaring vocals and adds his own flavor with fluttering strings, a churning low end and matching synth chords. While this remix may not enjoy the same success that “Burn Forever” has, it is still getting support from some big names and is yet another very good production from the Haitian born producer.
