Hip-Hop | Mac Miller — Objects in the Mirror [Live]

Posted by on May 30, 2013

In anticipation of his upcoming tour and sophomore album, Watching Movies With the Sound Off, due out June 18 (along with Kanye West’s Yeezus and J. Cole’s Born Sinner), Mac lets go of a video in which he performs a new Pharrell-produced cut from the album. While I haven’t always been a fan, he began to show a lot of growth on Macadelic after his disappointing debut, and this song shows that he’s likely headed in the same direction. It’s easy to forget when you watch “Donald Trump” that this 21-year-old is actually a multi-instrumentalist and a pretty gifted songwriter, too. Can’t wait for June 18.

Allow me to christen your lobes with the sounds of 1st Round Record’s newest artist, Bridge.  The 21-year old singer/songwriter/occasional rap verse spitter, nests among the stars of Los Angeles, but makes it very clear on this track his confidence and talent eclipse’s hundreds of other aspiring artists striving for fame in the same city.  “Do Ya Right” is an edgy, confident pursuit of that dreamy dime every man strives for.  Stay tuned as Bridge prepares for the release of the second installment of his trilogy series, Creature Of Habit, due out April 10th.

It’s always gratifying finding a diamond in the ruff after searching aimlessly through Twitter, Facebook, and emails for hours, in search of music that is completely new to my ears.  Josh Osho is the diamond.  A 20-year old London born singer/songwriter plotting the release of his debut EP due out May 14th.  Breaking out with his first single featuring Mr. Glover as Childish Gambino, Osho’s bold vocals meet the hard bars of Bino for a perfect balance of pop, alternative, and hip-hop. Hip-Hop | Kenton Dunson – Firestarter Feat. Ryan Kellie

Posted by on June 8, 2011

After giving you a taste of Kenton late last month, we are proud to drop his second single “Firestarter.” This tracks features awesome lyricism and some of the best production I have heard from an upcoming artist…plus this hook is butter. According to Kenton:

I was always intrigued by the term “Firestarter”… ever since I heard that Prodigy record in the 90’s. The term actually meant something to me after I dated a serial heart breaker. She was blazing a mean trail! Eventually she must have realized her faults because she later apologized saying she didn’t mean any harm but honestly, when does that ever help? I’m actually good friends with her today so my goal is not to put that individual on blast but as you progress as a songwriter, you absolutely must allow yourself to express true emotion whether the subject is sensitive or not. I wrote this song very quick starting at the piano and sang the hook in falsetto…enter Ryan Kellie! She’s an amazing singer/songwriter who spent a lot of time on the Nashville music scene. I wrote piano parts to a few of her songs in progress so we have a natural working relationship that turned out perfectly on this track!

Girl Fire, Hip-Hop | Cassie Cardelle – “Just Let Me (ft. Lo Eyz)” | Girl Fire

Posted by on February 10, 2011

Here’s a HOT track with some visuals to match. Cassie Cardelle is a multitalented singer, songwriter, dancer, actor, surfer, cook… the list goes on… This 18 year old Boston native caught my eye and ear for obvious reason; she’s got a phenomenal voice backed by a solid production team. The song above (featured below) is the up beat track I needed to quench my pop thirst. If you’re looking for some more eye candy check out this months issue of Dyme Magazine. I don’t have a clue what this magazine is about but you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be finding out since our girl Cassie is featured as the dyme of the month in it. And if that isn’t enough she’s also the centerfold of in Candela this month as well… Check out the links, download the EP, and stay tuned for more to come! Props to “Lo Eyz” too I’m digging his contribution to this track.
