Pop | Play-N-Skillz – Party People (f. Shelby Shaw & Bun B)

Posted by on May 27, 2014

It’s no secret we’re Play-N-Skillz fans. Pioneers in the trap and hip-hop world, the Grammy boys deliver their new Shelby Shaw and Bun B assisted “Party People” single and video. Directed by Chris Levario, the video transports us to Winston’s Supperclub, where Play-N-Skillz whip the crowd into a frenzy of dancing and turning up. Sonically, “Party People” is a radio ready trap inspired hit that’s pays homage to their roots while showcasing their evolution as artists and producers. It’s an impressive official showing from the brothers, riddled with Dallas centric references complete with a melodic hook from recent signee, Shelby Shaw. Play-N-Skillz. Shelby Shaw. Bun Bun. Trap Hard Texas. Make “way for Bun B and Play-N-Skillz” on iTunes, they’re coming through.

By now rapping up the previous year and starting the new is more or less routine for Calvin and Robert.  They have been busy without a doubt, capping off 2013 with a remix to the throwback 90’s classic, “Save Tonight”.  Skillz may have the rap game “Rap Up” on lock, but Timeflies is holding the belt for the pop counterpart.  A few days after dropping this video, they opened the flood gates and released the highly requested downloads for all of their 2013 Tuesday installments.  Cop those all below and make sure to thank the dudes on Twitter.

Lastly, we have this week’s visual, which is an acoustic cover of their own fan favorite smash, “Ride”.

Lastly x2, new single “All The Way” coming 1.20.14.

Free downloads and the Ride acoustic after the jump!

Hip-Hop | Skillz – 2011 Rap Up

Posted by on January 22, 2012

Despite the fact Skillz “Rap Up’s” are one of my personal favorite releases year after year, I dropped the ball on this one.  Nevertheless, VA native, Skillz, rapped up the highlights of 2011 with his annual jam.  It takes talent to creatively consolidate everything that happened in the 525,948 minutes of 2011 into a 3:40 song.  Production credits go to Skillz, Jazzy Jeff, and Johnnie “Smurf” Smith.  I’m only giving you the iTunes link because when an artist only drops one hit a year, the least you can do is give him a buck.
