Bass, Drum & Bass | Alex Metric – Heart Weighs A Ton (Mat Zo Remix)

Mat Zo - Alex Metric Remix
As usual, you really have no idea what you’re about to get into when pressing play on a brand new Mat Zo track – and that’s exactly why we have a bit of a broner for the dude. His bi-weekly Mat Zo Mixes (see Soundcloud) are the epitome of “Doin It Live” – this track confirms that Mat Zo isn’t about genre restrictions. Damage Control quite possibly was one of the best albums to put EDM onto its ass in the last decade and the producer/dj is showing no signs of exhaustion. He’s getting ready to hit the road and break-in his brand new label, Mad Zoo in the coming months – here’s an exquisite taste of what to expect.

House | David Guetta f. Sam Martin – Dangerous (Calvo Bass House Remix)

Holy smokes. This track is silly good. If this was FreshNewTracks.com circa 2011 we’d inevitably call the track a certified banger. Located in Hamburg, Calvo is an obscure up and coming producer that only has a few remixes on his Soundcloud. They’re all good, but this “Dangerous” remix is the best. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut aber Ich versuche mein besten. Calvo’s neu remix ist fantastich. Los gehts!

You’ve heard Old English with Young Thug, Freddie Gibbs, and A$AP Ferg. You may have heard Drop That B***h with Kurupt and Schoolboy Q. But you haven’t heard the brand new free album from Salva. One producer and so many different sounds on this project, Peacemaker brings great beats and great features. Download and listen to it below to check it out for yourself. Free albums are always the best type of albums too.

FYI | Did DJ Serafin Jack Mednas and CID’s Collaboration?

Posted by on October 23, 2014

Screen Shot 2014-10-23 at 11.28.12 PM
It all started with a tweet. LIV Miami resident Mednas tweeted earlier today that he had discovered an unnamed DJ slash producer slash charlatan had stolen his intellectual property. Not just any intellectual property. It happened to be his “iLL Behavior” collaboration with super-producer CID who’s NY based. In fact, it was claimed by Mednas the DJ in question even had the track name changed when you “Shazamed” the record. We came across the story and couldn’t help but do some digging.

Here’s what we found: The DJ’s name is DJ Serafin, real name Jeremy Jimenez. He’s an LA based “producer” who’s signed to Peak Hour Music. He apparently has a few dates booked and seems to have a semi-legitimate Facebook and Twitter presence. Seems to check out. Not so fast. It only took a little searching in iTunes (and Amazon) and Spotify to find the real zinger.

House | Sander Van Doorn & Oliver Heldens – THIS

Sander Van Doorn & Oliver Heldens - THIS

Fans of these two have been waiting quite some time for this one. It seems like everyone wants a piece of the Oliver Heldens brand of “future house” and he is eager to dish it out, with very little changed. It is one thing to find a signature sound, which is incredibly difficult to do unto itself, but to be able to evolve within that and expand creatively is one of the marks of a great producer. “THIS” sounds an awful like “Gecko” and you can hear some influence of Sander van Doorn, but not much. The tune comes out October 6th and will probably be another Beatport chart topping hit.

Exclusive, Pop | Premiere: Melleefresh – Apparition (Original Pop Mix)

Melleefresh - Apparition (Original Pop Mix)
For dance music fans, the name Mellefresh is familiar. She has most notably collabed with Deadmau5 to create Freshmau5 back in the early days of his career on tunes like “Hey Baby” and “Sex Slave”. More recently, the singer, songwriter, producer and DJ has been branching out beyond deadmau5’s twisted mind into drum n bass and tech house / minimal with Alixanderlll, part of the revered Azari & III duo. She is also an accomplished artist in her own right and is taking it out to the world with this self-produced and self-written tune “Apparition”. Melleefresh brings together the modern and the pop sensibilities of the 80s as the robotic voice clashes with the themes of love in the tune. We have the premiere for you until it is released on October 6th via Play Records, so stream away now!

Progressive House | Dirty South – Unbreakable

Dirty South - Unbreakable

Though he just released an album in March of last year “Speed Of Life“, Dirty South is already prepping another full-length LP for release this fall “With You”. He has unveiled the lead single for the album “Unbreakable”, which shows the new direction of the LA based producer / DJ. A bit different from the Dirty South we are used to with his big storming melodies, the Serbian born producer leans more on instrumentation and vocals from Sam Martin to create an actual song in “Unbreakable”. The album is set for release November 4th, so mark your calendars and pre-order it now on iTunes here.
