Reggae | Don Omar – Danza Kuduro (Dj Gigi Smart Mini Mix) | Party Jam

Posted by on May 26, 2011

This is some straight up PARTY FUEL that I’ve been abusing in Miami over the past week. The best part is this isn’t your average club song. It’s a spicy and infectious Reggaeton hit (think Daddy Yankee) that’ll make anyone immediately start dancing. Although we can’t offer you the original song (buy it here), I did manage to find this mini-mix which is a little longer and incorporates pieces from the two official remixes (original and “westernized” version).

Electro, House | Bruno Mars – Grenade (Passion Pit Remix) | INDIE/ELECTRO

Posted by on February 5, 2011

This track and the Hooligans remix (posted below) is going to be featured on “The Grenade Sessions EP” as well as an acoustic remix and the original song. The Passion Pit remix is the exact style you’d expect from this chart topping indie group, it’s a must download.

Hip-Hop | HIP-HOP | Collin McLoughlin – Deuces (Remix)

Posted by on January 19, 2011

Colllin plans to hit the ground running in 2011 by releasing one track a week over the next 3 months, leading up to the release of his free album “Ambiguity.” To start things off, he is releasing a remix to Chris Brown’s Deuces. This track features the instrumental from the original song coupled with lyrical mashups, something that I have very rarely seen done (especially done this well). With lyrics from Jason Derulo’s “Whatcha Say,” Ciara’s “Ride,” and Usher’s “Confessions,” this song is certified Girl Fire. Look out for another heater from Collin next Wednesday and make sure to check out his facebook

Albums, Electro, Mashups | ELECTRO | Edward Sharpe, M.I.A., and Aoki

Posted by on January 14, 2011

NYU students love indie music. At least one track related to the genre is bound to pop up on any given playlist, during the occasional apartment party. I first heard Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroe’s song, “Home,” while out at one of said parties, a few months back. Although I typically shy away from bands such as this, the track proved otherwise. DJ Whole-Z capitalized on “Home’s” popularity by remixing the track into an electro banger. The beginning is slow, much like the original song, but the drop is pretty sick.

2010 didn’t play out so well for M.I.A.. We’re all sick of her remixes (if my girlfriends play a version of “Paper Planes” again, I may keel over). Two weeks after dropping her [decent] mixtape entitled “Vicki Leekz,” M.I.A. has released a new EP with four remixes of her song “Internet Connection.” Two of said remixes, by Flux Pavillion and Huoratron Rum Aid, are posted below and deserve some recognition.

Unfortunately I missed Steve Aoki’s Friday night return to Surrender while out in Vegas. The below remixes of “Wake Up Call” have helped me get over it.

What an ill track. Seriously, this one takes the cake for my post. Add catchy synths and a pronounced bassline to some accentuated choruses and you’re good to go. This hybrid d-floor/chillin track will give your earbuds a taste of something different.

Everyone and their mothers took a stab at remixing Chromeo’s hit “Night by Night,” but few productions piqued my interest like this one. Not too heavy, but not too slow either. Really digging some of the new sounds like the banjo synth that “Kill Them With Color” utilizes.

Punks Jump Up produces some bangin remixes.. I’m not sure if it’ll grab as much attention as their rendition of Animals, but it’s definitely a solid add to the tunes library.

Not much to say about this one, it’s difficult to sabatoge a soon-t0-be timeless track like Grum’s Heartbeat (which incidentally received some of the highest DL numbers last month). Worship revamps and spices things up nicely with this one, so If you’ve already overplayed the original song, download this track.

For good measure I had to include a track from Breakbot (pictured above). The guy’s a serial producer of bangers.
