House | Eric Prydz – Pryda 028

Eric Prydz - Pryda 028
Eric Prydz is my favorite producer, so I am biased when it comes to reviewing his material, but when he releases 4 new tracks at once, the dance world stops and listens. It isn’t just because other producers cry at how impeccable his mixdowns are, or his genius samples, but because of how innovative, fresh and timeless each track is. This 4 track is no different with addictive vocal bits throughout, notably on “Mija” and “Origins” with a nice balance of dark, brooding bass lines, not too far away from a Cirez D production and the cheery, fluttering arps and synths Pryda is so well known for.

Unfortunately for him, Porter decided to release the stream for “Worlds” yesterday, which took over the internet spotlight from this. If any of you are heading to MSG on 9/27, I hope to see you there. Let’s pray that the Pryda album gets released this year….

Ambient, Electro | Barcelona – Background (MSG Remix)

Posted by on February 2, 2014

Despite their million+ fans, I was previously unaware of Barcelona. The group has chocked their SoundCloud full of remixes, and one in particular that really made a lasting impression was MSG’s “Background” reworking. The song takes ambient elements from Barcelona’s catchy vocals and mixes them with the deep house sounds that are making their rounds across the music world. The result is pure bliss for an entire four minutes and thirty eight seconds.

Both MSG and Barcelona hail from the Northwest state of Washington, a hub for all things culture and music. The local influences allowed for this track to click on multiple levels, making it enjoyable for indie and electronic fans alike.

I encourage you all to dive in to this song and stay up to date with future releases via Barcelona’s SoundCloud page.

The afterparties for A State Of Trance 600 in New York have been announced with 3 of the acts performing that night at MSG taking the stage at two seperate venues, Best Buy Theater and Pacha NYC. Marcus Schulz will be performing alongside his friend and frequent collaborator, Ferry Corsten at Pacha with Mike Saint-Jules in support. At the Best Buy Theater, W&W will be headlining alongside Jochen Miller and local Eco in what should be a heavier after party. Both of the shows have their distinct advantages / differences in terms of venue, lineup etc, so make the decision and be ready to continue going once MSG kicks everyone out before 1am. Events, Videos | Swedish House Mafia 230911 Announcement

Posted by on September 23, 2011

Swedish House Mafia just made their immensly anticipated 230911 announcement and it confirms much of we have expected. They will be playing Madison Square Garden on December 16th this year and go on a world tour that ends with a massive 9 hour event at Milton Keynes Bowl on July 14th 2012 with special guests to be announced that should be absolutely insane. The tickets go on sale September 30th and they will be capped at $35-$75 for MSG and 45 pounds for MKB so we don’t have prices like the Avicii New Years Eve show ticket prices yesterday. They will also be releasing a new live CD called “One Night Stand” in December with “Antidote” and their remix of “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”. The CD will also include new solo work from each of the three members. A world tour like this is huge (there is mention of Australia and Brazil at the end of the video) as they are going to rock the biggest venues worldwide as well as releasing a new album with new material. Some more information from Billboard here.
