Hip-Hop, Pop, Videos | Hoodie Allen – Fame is for Assholes (Video)

Posted by on February 18, 2013

Call me an asshole, but I wouldn’t mind being famous. Either way, Hoodie Allen is doing it right. Hoodie goes back to the Leap Year rapping days on this, and I love it. Chiddy does his thing as always, and drops a few sweet bars. Crew Cuts drops in two days. See you then. I don’t know what happened to our hip-pop tab, but this is definitely hip-pop, so just pretend that’s what it says.

How can one not root for Hoodie Allen? The man graduated from UPENN, worked for google, and yet he decided to drop his seemingly set lifestyle to pursue his dream of making music. This is the first we’ve heard of Hoodie since his awesome mixtape from last year, Leap Year, and it goes above and beyond anything I thought. What makes Hoodie so appealing as an artist is not only his catchy beats and choruses, it’s his wordplay. To me, he is up there with Danny Brown and Das Racist(KOOL A.D. & HEEMS) as one the wittiest rappers out right now. It seems as if the mans brain is just one big encyclopedia of pop culture references. His style is so carefree and fun and it just makes us crave more and more of this New Yorker. Since Hoodie is truly the nicest guy in the bidness today(my opinion), he is taking time out of his day to personally call each person who buys the EP to thank them for their contribution and support, if you don’t believe me check this out. So if you want to talk to Hoodie or just support good music and a guy who deserves some respect and acknowledgment, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU BUY THIS. Hoodie congrats!

Hip-Hop, Pop | Hoodie Allen – No Interruption [Video]

There comes a time and place for every successful artist to break into the iTunes market.  100k FB fans, 45k Twitter followers, three mixtapes, and one free EP later, the very deserving Hoodie Allen releases the first single off his upcoming EP, All American, due out April 10th with an official iTunes release.

“So this is something completely new for me. I’ve built most of my following online based around 2 ideas –1. free mixtapes and 2. creative use of sampling. With this new project, I’ve worked really hard to expand upon the sound that my fans love while actually creating all the songs from scratch.” – Hoodie Allen

After listening to this new single and watching the video, it’s evident that Hoodie’s “No Interruption” promise runs deeper than his relationships.  Locking himself in the studio, this completely original track features production from RJF and WNDRBRD, the whitty rhymes we’re used to, and one heck of a hook.  It sounds like someone has been taking vocal lessons… #AllAmerican

Hip-Hop | Hoodie Allen “NY is Killing Me” | HIP-HOP

Posted by on March 14, 2011

The all-so-buzzed about Hoodie Allen just dropped his remix of Jamie XX and Gil Scott-Heron’s original “NY is Killing Me” track. “NY is Killing Me” will be featured on Hoodie’s upcoming tape, Leap Year. The track tells the story of Hoodie’s love-hate relationship with the city (what makes it difficult to be there and even harder to leave).
