The King Kendrick Lamar is one of music’s biggest icons. His new album and specifically the single “Humble” are larger than life. It takes a special producer to try and take on remixing such a project, but that’s just what the talented VenessaMichaels did. Her iconic sound has her regarded as one of the best producers doing their own thing. Her “Humble” remix exemplifies this sound, a mix of hip-hop/trap with just enough jersey club vibes to get the party going strong. Abstract Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop, Videos | Christian Deshun Capitalizes On Kendrick Lamar Taking Instrumental

When Los Angeles Based Christian Deshun first heard To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar a weird sense drifted over him. Upon reaching “Momma”, Christian realized that K. Dot had used an instrumental that he released last year on his EP SMPLCTY. It was on a record titled “Thank You”, which was produced by buzzing producer KNXWLEDGE. But instead of it bringing him down and feeling haste, Christian had felt honored that him and K. Dot have the same ear sort of feeling as a pioneer. “If K. Dot liked this now, and I recorded this last year this sort of makes me ahead of my time as an innovator”, stated Christian.

Well two weeks after this debacle, Christian released a video titled “Undisclosed”. This was recorded at a time when Christian and his Friends where financially broke and hanging out in a decrepit building off the beaten path. But even though they were financially unstable, they were intellectually rich. The meaning “Undisclosed” came from the fact that you couldn’t find this house even if you tried, it would not register in a GPS device.

For now the future looks bright for the budding star out of LA. Hoping to put Louisiana on the map via Los Angeles he definitely carries the character, drive, and personality to attain these goals.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Scolla – Play It Cool (ft. Skewby)

Posted by on October 7, 2014

Feel-good rap is too hard to come by nowadays. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad at any stripclub anthems that have been put out in 2014, however, with the recent release of Kendrick Lamar’s “i”, it seems as if positive vibes and less-booty shaking might be returning to hip-hop.

Here to add to that movement is Scolla with his new Skewby assisted track, “Play It Cool”. The song displays Scolla’s infectious melodies as well as the raw rapping ability of both him and Memphis native, Skewby.

The interwebs are ablaze so early in the morning with Kendrick Lamar deciding to release the first single of his upcoming new album. Featuring a sample of the Isley Brothers’ “Who’s that lady”, the song is an uptempo feel good track that Kendrick enlightens us with. Using one of his various vocal tones, Kendrick is always finding new ways to push the boundary and keep us guessing. Keep clicking repeat because it’s only a matter of time before this song is everywhere.

P.S. it dropped two hours ago and already has 400,000 plays…
