Electro-House, Videos | Kaskade vs Qulinez – Stars Troll

Posted by on July 27, 2012

So you have a busy day ahead of you. First Tomorrowland will be streaming live starting at 1pm EST with Alesso, then Steve Aoki, Fatboy Slim, Avicii… until 7pm EST. THEN Kaskade’s history making sold out show at the Staples center as the first ever DJ to play at the Staples Center will be streamed live at 9:15 PST (12:15 EST). You know he will be bringing his A game for this one coming back home to Cali, so this one will be nuts. Watch it on Ultra Records Youtube Channel, or on his website. Also to commemorate this special occasion, he released his bootleg of Qulinez – Troll with his prevailing vocal track “Stars Align”. It adds an extra element to this track that has had a lasting impression on 2012 with its totally new sound and has broken Qulinez into the forefront of the progressive / electro sound.

Progressive House | Kaskade – Angel On My Shoulder (Simon Shout Remix)

Posted by on July 13, 2012

German DJ / Producer Simon Shout decided to challenge himself and take on a Kaskade song for his next remix duty. The vocals from the original track remain timeless, having been bootlegged countless times and then changes the tempo of the track, while keeping the smooth, melodic feel of the original. Simon Shout adds a subtle piano melody in the build that almost seems like it should have been in the original to accompany the vocals with a drop of prominent, driving synth chords, quick snares, a hard clap and layered piano to give the melody a full body. There have been a whole host of remixes and bootlegs of “Angel On My Shoulder” that have been quite good, but this has to be put up at the top not only for its quality, but also because it keeps the essence of the original track.

Preview, Progressive House | Kaskade feat. Neon Trees – Lessons in Love (Fareoh Remix Preview)

Posted by on June 26, 2012

“Lessons in Love” has never been one of my favorite tracks on Fire and Ice. When push comes to shove, I’ll always prefer female vocalists with Kaskade’s arrangements — they’ve simply got the breathy and wistful game on lock. With that said, I’m definitely excited about this upcoming reboot from Fareoh, because like any good remix it appears to exploit the strengths of the original while simultaneously building out in a new direction. The young producer, who is currently opening for Kaskade on the Freaks of Nature Tour, puts a fresh spin on this Neon Trees collaboration, injecting some catchy synth hooks that drive the intensity and lend a brighter, more house-inflected vibe. I get the feeling that Fareoh is deliberately denying us the red meat in this tease of a clip so I definitely can’t wait to hear the full version when it finally drops.

DJ-Set, Events, House | Kaskade @ Coachella 2012

Posted by on April 25, 2012

Were you at Coachella this year? I wasn’t able to make it (you know, minor details like living on the east coast and all), but Kaskade just uploaded his full set from the festival and it’s making me feel like I was there. The best thing about this set is that he primarily played original material, so it’s packed with many of his uplifting and high-energy mashes. Well worth the listen and the download. Read on for the full tracklisting.

Events, Progressive House | Kaskade “Freaks of Nature” Tour

Posted by on March 16, 2012

Kaskade will be taking the US by storm this summer with his “Freaks of Nature” Tour, currently with 35 dates and more to be announced. The tour will cross the country, tearing up festivals, theaters and stadiums across the country, including venues such as Red Rocks, The Fillmore, and Tabernacle. I will let Kaskade describe the tour further in his own words,

“It’s the most ambitious tour I’ve ever done,” said Kaskade. “Just the number of cities and the actual stage set I’m taking on the road in itself is an unprecedented feat for me. People who’ve seen me before will never have seen this and for those who have yet to see me, it’ll only enhance the experience that much more.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow so fight through that hangover, get your tickets and then go back to sleep, you will love yourself later for the decision. Pre-sale tickets are already going fast and some of the events are already sold out so get on this NOW. Full tour after the jump. Below I included a great, free progressive house remix from Cegor of Chuckie & Gregor Salto – What Happens In Vegas, which is fitting with Kaskade’s residency at Marquee in Vegas throughout the year.

Dubstep, Videos | Kaskade – Room for Happiness ft. Skylar Grey (Feature Cuts Remix) [Music Video]

Posted by on February 29, 2012

Feature Cuts is an up and coming Electronic artist from Texas who is already light years away from many of his peers. His latest remix of Kaskade’s “Room for Happiness” is super heavy with a drop that may just blow your speakers. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Check out what Feature Cuts had to say about the remix below.

“From the intro that contains deep lyrics to be interpreted as one chooses. To the drop that is intended to create immense feeling and evoke energy from within. I hope the listener will hear a story and find a happiness that is as unique as they are.” – Feature Cuts

Electro, Mashups | R3hab & Swanky Tunes – Sending My Love (Kaskade MixMash)

Posted by on January 10, 2012

Another day, another straight banger of a mashup from Kaskade. As usual, the build on this track is insane, and once the vocals drop the energy somehow gets ratcheted up to yet another level. Kaskade has been churning out so many of these lately that at this point I don’t even think of them as mashups in the traditional sense — they’re awesome enough in their own right to be distinct from the originals. Note: this is *not* the same Kaskade remix of Sending My Love that has already been posted…it combines three of the remixes, including Kaskade’s own. It’s a remix of the remixes if you will.

In other EDM news, Ultra announced this afternoon that it has sold out in record time. Tough luck if you didn’t get tickets but this news definitely fired me up, because it confirms what I already knew: Ultra’s going to be bigger and crazier than ever this year. Who’s going, who’s going to be holding down the front row at Skrillex with me (my friend got punched in the face by a crazy chick at the Mothership Tour so I’m ready to fight shenanigans with shenanigans if need be), and who’s got predictions for phase 2 of the lineup? Maybe a little late play from Deadmau5? Maybe Alesso or Diplo? Would love to see Rusko and Nero on there too.

At any rate, when you’re struggling hard on the Sunday morning of Ultra and aren’t sure if you can put in a third straight day, crank this up in your hotel room as a little reminder that you’re not trying to pass up Kaskade.
