Before moving out to California three months ago, I didn’t know much about Desert Hearts. I would see the festival’s name pop up time after time in blogs and Facebook posts, and I became intrigued by the colorful photos and people that caught my attention. I remember sitting at home in the middle-of-nowhere, Pennsylvania, scrolling through photos of the festival, and fantasizing about what it would be like to be in this vibrant scene all dressed in silly clothes with happy-looking humans. Not long after my move to California, an opportunity arose for me to attend the festival; I couldn’t refuse it. The time had finally come for me to find out what Desert Hearts was all about.

House | Justin Jay Announces Fantastic Voyage Album By Releasing “Weatherman”

It’s not very often that we see an album from a house and techno artist, but Justin Jay is not a typical artist. The youngest dirtybird has spent the last year pushing the boundaries of his music creatively, teaming up with his college friends to incorporate live instruments and elements of blues, jazz, soul, funk, and rock into his typical house production to create a new side project, Justin Jay & Friends. He debuted Justin Jay & Friends with the release of “Karma,” which was a resounding success, and helped pave the way for Justin’s Fantastic Voyage tour.

Now, Justin Jay is putting it all together for an album – Fantastic Voyage Part 1 – and he’s just released the first track off of his magnum opus, “Weatherman.” Featuring Benny Bridges on guitar and Josh Taylor on vocals, “Weatherman” demonstrates Justin’s matured take on production and evolved stance on house music, as Benny Bridges and Josh Taylor take the lead on the track with a heavy guitar lead and smooth vocals that are more fitting for a blues track than a house record, while Justin deftly gives “Weatherman” his signature groove. As Justin explains, the Fantastic Voyage album is a release about exploration and getting out of his comfort zone. The album will be released in a unique manner, as the 12 tracks will be split across separate EPs and released on separate labels to showcase the unique, varied sound of each individual track that are all tied together by one thing – Justin Jay.

Chill | CASTELL’s “You Got It Wrong” Pushes Club-House Bounderies

The way house music is being consumed by fans is changing, in 2016 the path keeps getting more diversified. An ironic facet being big-room was huge in 2012 but now chiller and experimental house genres are taking over in 2016.

One artist pushing the limit on in both areas is CASTELL. “You Got It Wrong” nails it will an original, non-cheesy deep-ish house vocal and bass rhythm. Soon after, CASTELL puts the icing on the cake with dope, cascading bell drops that bring about a unique feeling that’s more than just a harmonious moment.

This is CASTELL’s first release, although he has years experience as a producer under previous aliases.

CASTELL caught the eye of Style Of Eye member Linus Eklöw (also 1/2 of Galantis) who has been mentoring him during this process. CASTELL has alot in store for 2016.

NGHTMRE has spent the past year solidifying his place in the dance music scene. He has played some of the biggest festivals in the world including EDC LV, TomorrowWorld, Lollapalooza, Snow Globe, and many others. NGHTMRE will drop a new track every two weeks leading up to the release of his EP on March 25.

This past week he blessed us with the third song “Get Back” off the self titled EP. He managed to transform the Ludacris 2004 smash hit into a spiraling rework that is reminiscent of NGHTMRE’s devilish drops.

“I’m always looking for unique 128bpm house music. With “Get Back” I wanted to create a high-energy break beat song that would still fit into a house live set!” – NGHTMRE

Pick it up as a limited free download below before it’s too late to get it back.
