Hip-Hop | Voli – Gone for Good ft. Justin Baron (Prod by Voli)

Posted by on March 9, 2012

“Is this life? Darlin’ tell me, is this right? Cuz if it is, I’ll be the first one to bring us elsewhere Out this hell here, sometimes you gotta leave to arrive”

Life can be tough, everyone knows that.  Justin Baron lends some light vocals on the hook to Voli’s newest single, “Gone for Good” which will be featured in  the upcoming movie and soundtrack “Illegal Activity”, released in the UK.  Painting a picture with his words, Voli digs deep to convey his emotions on life’s daunting decisions.

“It seems that anything worth fighting for is worth leaving something behind for. Some strive to leave behind the pain and struggles they know in order to live a life worth living. What would you do? Got to collaborate with the talented Justin Baron on this one. Enjoy.”- Voli

Honestly, at this point I pity the fool who is still sleeping on Voli.  He’s scoring straight A’s in all aspects of the game right now.

Hip-Hop, Videos | G-Riot – Moony [Video]

For any long time followers of FNT, you’ll recognize the name G-Riot.  The Northeastern grad was once buzzing on the college scene but put music on the back burner as academics took precedence.  Now that G has graduated, began working independently, and refocused his attention on music he will begin his course back to relevancy.  Shooting visuals for his first hit, “Moony”, my personal favorite from G, should be a fair reminder to fans the skill he possesses.  If you’re feeling this video, grab the DL and link with him on Facebook.

Hip-Hop, RnB | Moufy – Glass Break ft. Masspike Miles

Posted by on February 17, 2012

Boston’s own, Moufy, teams up with fellow Bostonian and MMG member, Masspike Miles, for the first single off his upcoming EP, Humble Season, dropping later this spring.  Moufy definitely toned down his energetic sound on this one, retaining the emotion but delivering a smoother relationship track over the Louis Lü Balz Bell beat.  In my opinion Moufy is near his best when he slows it down and focuses on the lyrical message of the song as he’s done on “Miss Newon” & “Whispers of a Cloud”.  Judging by the success Moufy saw in 2011, I can see this EP doing some serious numbers.

Hip-Hop | YONAS – Midnight City (Prod. by Sean Ross)

Posted by on January 23, 2012

YONAS had one of the best hip-hop albums of 2011.  M83 had one of the best electronic/pop albums of 2011.  Put these two together and you have a work of art.  After seeing exceptional success with his remixes of “I Need a Dollar” by Aloe Blacc & “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster The People, YONAS and producer Sean Ross put their own spin on the 2011 hit.  Gearing up for the release of his next album, YONAS continues to impress track after track and with a fan base steadily on the rise, I think this project may knock the Bronx MC onto the next level.

“The most live MC, I’m feeling like Pac all eyes on me.  So if you’re ready let’s ride on 3, and be ready to die cause you know that I got you over…” – YONAS

P.S. Stay tuned for the “Fall Back” video dropping just around the corner.  It’s going to be notoriously big.

Freestyle, Hip-Hop, Videos | Timeflies Tuesday: 2012

2011 was truly an extraordinary year for Timeflies.  It’s amazing to watch artists’ growth over such a short period of time and even more impressive to see the fans support explode with so much passion.  In lieu of the malicious Mayans forecasting the world’s end, @WhatupCal & @RobResnick  sample Jason Derulo & Nicki Minaj’s track, “2012 (It Ain’t The End)”, adding their own personal stroke of genius.  If by some chance the Mayans predictions of the world ending on December 21st of 2012 hold true, Timeflies is guaranteed to go out with a bang.  If the world doesn’t end, they’re still going to have one hell of a year and I’m excited to see just how far they can take this dream.

They have teased us with the streaming audio for this right now, but once they hit 25,000 followers on @Timeflies they promised to drop us the mp3.  GO FOLLOW!

Hip-Hop, Pop, RnB | Qwote

Posted by on December 24, 2011

Quote has broken FNT ground a few times before, but I felt his resume qualified him for a solo post.  Supplying bangers as thick as the back side of this broad, the Miami native has worked with some of the game’s best including Pitbull, Rick Ross, J.R. Rotem, & Jim Jonsin to name a few.  The pop/rnb/hip-hop go getter has a very fluent and bodacious voice that allows him to work so versatilely with all these artists.  I’ve yet to hear Qwote on the radio up in New England, but once people get a shot of this guys music, I have a feeling they’ll be calling for a second round very soon after.  Below is his most recent mixtape, Love Her Lips, highlighted with a few of my favorite cuts.

“My goal is to create a new lane that can bring fresh innovative music that touches the soul and evokes thought, passion, and creativity on another level.”

Hip-Hop, Videos | Drake, Rihanna, Rick Ross, Nelly

Posted by on December 22, 2011

25 sittin’ on 25 mil.  Drizzy brings his batting gloves as he knocks the new visuals for “The Motto”  out of the park.  Fellow CMB members Lil Wayne and Tyga join the show, both delivering crisp verses over the rhythmic T-Minus production.  The real question I have is WTF is Weezy wearing on his feet?  Neon green casts?  Snow boots?  This is “swag” on a whole new level.  #YOLO

The title track off Rihanna’s scorching new album, Talk The Talk, got the Bauce Sauce treatment.  Not an official remix, but Ross adds a verse at the commencement of the track.  Rozay confirmed that he’s been working on a new mixtape and will be revealing the title and release date by week’s end.

Nelly aiming to resurrect his radio presence?  By the sounds of this new track, “Champion” off his next mixtape, Nelly appears to be looking to make a case for the mainstream.  Fans can relate.  The song will probably be picked up by a movie or sports commercial.  80’s baby’s will always love Nelly.  Get ’em Megget!
