After the one week notice OWSLA decided to give the fans, KOAN Sound’s new EP has arrived. Not exactly the smoothest upload on Beatport’s side, after they tried to charge for the free remix and mixed up a few tracks on the EP haha. KOAN Sound is probably sweating due to Beatports errors, not they need to considering how amazing this EP is. I love the funky dubstep vibe, something new to hear besides an artist trying to rupture my ear drums. Obviously the Kill Everybody remix is nothing short of awesome, but after re-listening to the EP over and over I seriously am not able to pick out a favorite. All and all, great job by KOAN Sound.

I hate to post Armin so much, but this song is too good not to be posted. This is a remix from Armin van Buuren off of the second CD on Universal Religion 5 that was not released in the US. It is another vocal trance mix that has Armin’s signature sound that is just amazing.

This remix of a Dash Berlin track is amazing. The female vocals are quintessential trance and the uplifting synth and bass in the builds and drops create this great song. Get it on Beatport HERE.

Tritonal, the American based trance DJs are still enjoying success from their widely acclaimed CD released in May, “Piercing the Quiet”. This song is a club mix of one the more popular singles on the CD and it is a great vocal trance track, something they are known for, with some great bass and uplifting synth. About time the duo, Switch and Diplo, released something new for Major Lazer. Of course the guys had to dress up Mad Men’s Don Draper in the Major Lazer attire. Moombahton and reggae were meant to be blended this way. I am not the biggest Major Lazer fan, but the tracks I do like, deserve recognition. The duo has announced that this track will be featured with a few more on their new EP, dropping November 1st.

Kids these days… no really, kids these days seem to be jumping into music production. Producing tunes is the new in, and young artists, such as Madeon, are rising fast. The video is a teaser that was filmed over the summer in Paris. Probably the coolest way to share a preview of a new track. The track Icarus has no official release date yet. I have heard rumors that it is being featured on Nintendo’s upcoming remake of Kid Icarus. I highly doubt that though, considering Madeon isn’t old enough to know what it is. It is unofficial currently, but Madeon is supposed to have an EP dropping before the end of the year. Heard something different or don’t agree? Share in the comments. Essentials Announcement
Middy and myself have spent the past few days working on the next essentials list for everyone. The goal has been to work together so as to make the choices less biased and truly be essentials to your ears. This Electro list features artists such as Madeon, Feed Me, Pretty Lights, and Spencer & Hill. With only a little more work to do to complete the list, Middy and I plan to release this bad boy this coming Tuesday, Oct. 18th. Expect news on the Hip-Hop, House, and Party essentials soon.
