Albums, Hip-Hop | Terence Ryan – Skeleton EP
Posted by W8 on January 26, 2012
Skeleton EP is definitely the exact prescribed dosage of reality that hip hop is currently in need of, no doubt. Terence Ryan is solely responsible for all songs written, recorded, produced, and engineered on this EP. It’s safe to say he deserves full credit for this entire project, that I truly admire. Rarely do you see artists engaging in all aspects of their craft aside from a scarce few like J. Cole and Kanye. For that reason Skeleton should remain memorably fresh for quite a while, not to mention Terence Ryan’s worth pondering lyricism. Be sure to show support and follow him on Twitter, and like his Facebook. Also, check his new video for Alan’s Right if you haven’t already.
Dubstep, Hip-Hop | Cypress Hill & Rusko – Roll It, Light It
Posted by Sev on January 24, 2012
Spin magazine giving this sick collaboration away today as well as announcing the release date for the Cypress Hill and Rusko album Cypress Hill X Rusko which is set to release on March 27th. It looks like March is going to be a Rusko overload, with his album releasing on the same day as this EP. From that start of this track you can feel that Rusko is going to bring the bass with a quick build up leading into the drop. The Cypress vocals go perfect with the heavy beat creating a great fusion of hip-hop and dubstep that makes you want to bump this track as loud as possible.

That looks like one of the best offices to work in; great music, great label and Mat Zo causally djing in the background. Where do I apply? Tritonal & Ben Gold have released their much anticipated dub remix of Tritonal’s “Slave”, which has been one of the biggest tracks on various podcasts and web shows from Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Above & Beyond among others for the past month. This song just has to be bought by you guys. Not only is it an outstanding song, but Tritonal is also giving out 5, yes 5 exclusive mashups if you buy this song between today and the 27th. If that was not enough, if you buy it within the next 24 hours, you also have a chance to win tickets to their show in Leeds with Gareth Emery and Andy Moor, among others. Convinced yet? I know I bought this song. Details right HERE and more on their FACEBOOK. Get this on BEATPORT.

Eco, a trance Dj and producer based out of New York just released this two song EP on Armada Records that is simply stunning. With a simple yet effective bass line, these songs have slow, measured builds that pace their way into melodic breaks with uplifting synth work that is worthy of establishing Eco as one of the elite US trance producers. Get the EP on BEATPORT.

Stoneface & Terminal create this remix that is almost nothing like you have heard in trance before. It has a great, melodic build that suddenly drops into a very slow heavy two-step beat that then speeds up into an intense synth and bass driven drop that makes this song as wild a journey of sound as it is tempo for the listener. Get it on BEATPORT.

Orjan Nilsen continues his 2012 right where he left off in 2011 by making absolutely massive trance tracks. He was a breakout artist in 2011 with a very successful album on Armada Records, and is only looking to build on that success in 2012. “Lucky Strike” is testament to that as a display of utmost quality from start to finish. Get this track on BEATPORT.

Xtigma comes out with this great single on Gareth Emery’s Garuda Records, that will surely help both the label and the artist. The song gives a great array of synth sounds with pitched synths and different tempos, as well as a great bass line underneath. Get it on BEATPORT.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Dylan Owen – Keep Your Friends Close (EP)
Posted by dshaq on January 22, 2012

This is honestly one of the best pieces of music that I have ever heard. Dylan Owen gives us this brand spankin new 11 song EP. Each song is a phenomenal story with beats to compliment Dylan’s flow. The emotion of the lyrics is what makes this EP so special, each song is just jam-packed with them, and that’s why Dylan is so good, oh and well he raps really good too, because it’s about real life problems and that’s what makes it easy to relate to. With a quality release like this, the sky is the limit for Dylan. So do yourself a favor and make sure you download this.

Hip-Hop | K’naan – Nothing To Lose Ft. Nas
Posted by Mach on January 21, 2012
Off of K’naans upcoming EP, More Beautiful Than Silence, Nothing To Lose provides a sick beat. In my opinion the hook is a bit weak, but it’s K’naan. Besides Dusty Foot Philosopher, he’s not exactly known for any great hooks. Nas without a doubt killed it with his verse, not sure why he allows himself to be just featured. Track should read,”Nas Ft. K’naan.”
