Asa is known for having some of the most unparalleled melodic and serene dubstep. This outstanding FREE EP features one original from him, two remixes, and one collaboration with Teknian and Kasket in which every track is amazing in a different light. This is one artist that always excites me whenever I see previews of his tracks on Soundcloud. The highly anticipated Birdy Nam Nam EP “Jaded Future” has finally been released on OWSLA. Containing remixes from big names such as Skrillex, Foreign Beggars, Culprate, and more; this EP surely has something for everyone to listen to. What surprised me was how many trap-style remixes this EP contained. Birdy Nam Nam have been around for quite sometime, probably most well known for their outstanding live performances, which you can watch HERE.
As far as this well rounded EP goes, it is another must have for me. All the tracks and remixes sound completely different to one another with the perfect flow from track to track. If you played the Culprate remix and compared it to the original mix of Cadillac Dreams the only thing that would indicate they are the same track is the vocals, but other than that the two tracks have no similar indications. Of course everyone was waiting for the two remixes from Skrillex, which turned out to be better than expected in my opinion. The DnB remix was top quality, as expected from Skrillex, and the trap remix also was a very interesting take on the track. I have to say though although Skrillex and Culprate’s remixes were both exhilarating, Foreign Beggars remix was my favorite easily. Their hard hitting vocals mixed with the trap style instrumental came out to be perfection, but that is just my opinion. Grab the EP on Beatport HERE.

Fan Favorite, Curren$y, unleashes this Harry Fraud produced EP. Complimenting each other, this project really impressed me. Curren$y’s effortless flow over these relaxing and fitting beats keep us focused and looking forward to each new song. Roll the windows down and cruise to this one.

Miles Jones released “Magic” about 20 days ago and I was just waiting on the entire EP Act So Strange to drop. I would have to conclude that this is still my favorite of the EP which has 5 songs that are all interesting. This Canadian rhymesayer lays it out in this super chill and short song that combines an ethereal beat with some poetic verses. This is not the jam to put on on your way to the gym or at a pregame, but lay back and relax to with your dog at the end of a hard days work (or hard days of doing nothing).

Progressive House | Deadmau5 – The Veldt EP

After having listened to the famed 8:42 radio mix of the magical single from deadmau5, we now have the lengthier version of the song with the capable Tommy Trash remix and deadmau5’s track with Cyprus Hill “Failbait”. The original mix opens with some interesting percussion with some tambourines, shakers and congas with a slowly moving synth to lead into the melodic masterpiece that we have come to know in “The Veldt”. Tommy Trash provides a more upbeat alternative that does not lose all of the melodic attractiveness of the original, but rather plays on it and makes the track more friendly for a club or a festival. He does not enter into this track as heavy as he might normally do, but rather gives airs on the lighter side, showing respect to the original. Also included in the EP is his rather interesting track with Cyrpus Hill. Not your vintage mau5, but still a decent effort.
Moombahton | Moombah Mondays

Summer has been getting the best of me so far, as far as Moombah Mondays are concerned. I have been falling behind so yet again I have to get you guys updated on the Moombah scene. Tittsworth, Rez & Des McMahon newest EP dropped a few days back and after listening to it for a few days it is safe to say it was worth the purchase. All the tracks bring a new aspect to the Moombah game and show a spark of new originality from all these artist brought into all the tracks on the EP.
Whenever there is a release from Dillon Francis coming up I am always excited to see what style he decided to choose. Looks like he is slowly digging back into Moombahton, but with some more hard hitting synths compared to his uplifting ones from his earlier remixes. In other news he also announced another upcoming release in July titled “This Ones 4 Munchi”. Not sure why, but just by the title I am dying to hear what he has mixed together for this one.
Swatdojo nailed this genre combination between Electro and Moombahton. Keeping that heavy Electro bounce with the slowed down BPM, as well the latin percussions. He won me over with this remix and got me listening to this track again, even though there are a million remixes of it.
Milo & Otis have yet to drop the ball as far as releases go. I can’t point out one track they have given away that has disappointed me. Something tells me we are going to be seeing these guys on some tour schedules pretty soon. I love the reggae/island influence on this track alongside the uplifting synth melody; not to mention the heavy bassy drop.
Munchi slowly resurfacing on his social medias these past few weeks and his biggest upload has been this killer, hour long Moombahton mix. Packed with so many exclusives and aggressive remixes, which now explain what he has been doing this whole time. The untitled collaboration with Bro Safari has to be my favorite track on. I haven’t heard anything like it before and I am waiting impatiently to hear about a release for this tune.

Thanks to Technique Recordings, I was given the privilege to listen to this EP for almost two weeks now, and I just can not get enough of it. L Plus has put together a masterwork EP that is going to release in two days. Seriously, there are no disappointing tracks on this EP. Even the music video is unique and “Amazing” in itself, just like the Amazing EP. I recommend not sleeping on this one at all if you are a DnB fan. Since it is a Friday night and I am a little late on this post, I am sure you guys are just waiting for the tunes instead of my elegant and appealing descriptions. Given the circumstances I will just let you guys enjoy the tracks and critique them yourselves in the chat box. You guys won’t be so lucky next time though. Enjoy!
