Albums, Exclusive, Featured, Progressive House | FNT Premiere: Sgt Slick – Everyday (Dave Winnel Vicious21 Remix) From Vicious 21

Posted by on March 3, 2014

21 years of vicious

Vicious Recordings is turning 21 this year and celebrate this momentous occasion, they have compiled 21 classics and 21 new remixes of songs that represent the storied history of the label. In a genre that has only been around for about 35 years, it is all to often we see labels, clubs and other institutions fade into obscurity after a short run on top. To remain one of the great labels, riding the highs and lows of the industry and remaining a consistent force at discovering new talent and promoting great music throughout the years. Based in Australia, just a few of the guys the label has helped break include Avicii, Dirty South, Peking Duk, Angger Dimas and many more.

With the compilation coming out tomorrow on Beatport, we are proud to premiere the Dave Winnel remix of Sgt Slick “Everyday”. Those of you who are fans of Kaskade’s compilation albums (raises hand), will recognize the piano-heavy remix by Digital Lab from Dance.Love, but now hometown kid, Dave Winnel takes over the reigns for a remix fit for 2014. The stunning vocal is left intact as Dave Winnel adds a bouncy bass line underneath a bed of synths that are a mix of a throwback to when this tune was originally released and to the sounds of today. Stream the tune below before it comes out tomorrow. Check out the teaser for the compilation below and see the full tracklist after the jump.

Progressive House | Franz Novotny – Big Bang (Incl. Remixes)

Posted by on May 16, 2012

Franz Novotny is yet another Swede who is ready to make waves in the house scene this year and beyond. Big Bang out now on Vicious Records, a label known for getting young talent before they blow up such as some of Avicii’s early work, has already been heavily supported by Morgan Page and Kaskade, as we saw with the very successful “Be Still Big Bang” mashup last year that was taken down due to copyright issues. The original mix builds with a big room sound with echoing synth chords and quick snares and then drops into a sharp rhythmic break, perfect for the festival atmosphere. The Digital Lab is my favorite of the package varying the build a bit with the rhythm of the drums and synth chords but keeps much of the same feel, but the break is much different with a thumping bass and driving low end synths and layered pulsing big room synths in the second break. The young Frenchman Maxime Zarcone provides probably the most interesting of the remixes with much of the original big room build and then a much different break with a variety of different types of synths, piano and percussive elements combine to create an organized chaos that is very enjoyable. Also Mr. Novotny promised to go streaking through Stockholm if he failed to release 15 tracks this year, so we look forward to 14 more sir.

Progressive House | Pedro Henriques feat. Giuseppe Viola – Spread The Love (Digital Lab Remix)

Posted by on January 30, 2012

Miami based Digital Lab takes this progressive bomb from his friend Pedro Henriques and adds a little more club flare to it by adding some more synth to the drop and bit more power the underlying bass line, while keeping the amazing vocals from Giuseppe Viola. Get this as well as the original and the Yves V remix on BEATPORT.

Preview, Progressive House, Videos | Tiesto & Steve Aoki – Tornado Teaser, Franz Novotny – Crunch & Digital Lab Remix

Posted by on November 1, 2011

Here is a teaser for “Tornado”, the new collaboration between Steve Aoki and Tiesto. Release on November 15th.
I recently posted an amazing remix by Franz Novotny and here is his new single “Crunch” with the Digital Lab remix. With an infectious piano lead and synth cords in the build that get to a drop with some crunchy synths the original is a great track. The Digital Lab remix may be my favorite because the synths in the drop are smoother and there is a little more piano, but the original has a little more of an electro feel. Get these on Beatport HERE.
