Electronic | Lamorn Debuts on mau5trap with “Physical Layer”

Posted by on June 4, 2021

After releasing a slew of official remixes for deadmau5 & Kieza, Judah & The Lion, SHAED & Two Feet, and ATTLAS, an 18-year-old Lamorn excitedly debuts his inaugural mau5trap single. “Physical Layer” is out now via the deadmau5-run imprint, and comes after the boss man himself discovered Lamorn during one of his mau5trap Monday streams. The masked producer says “[Lamorn’s] song ‘Physical Layer’ was so strong I had to ask him to send his session files to make sure it was him. Since then he’s remixed my song with Kiesza ‘Bridged By A Lightwave.’ Excited to welcome him to the mau5trap family and looking forward to much more from him in the near future.”

Electronic | Hyper Fires his “Impact Weapon” on mau5trap

Posted by on May 28, 2021

A dance music visionary with worldwide scope, London-born creative Hyper scores some of the most defining moments in sound. Lending his unique musicianship to the likes of film including Blade Runner 2049, and to viral video game moments such as the Official 2018 E3 Trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, Hyper’s compositions chronicle some of media’s most impactful moments. Finding his rightful home at deadmau5’s highly technical mau5trap label, Hyper makes his long-awaited debut with “Impact Weapon,” the first single from his forthcoming Control EP. “Impact Weapon” is out now.

Inspired by social justice movements in his current home of Seattle, Washington, Hyper details a time of political and racial unrest in “Impact Weapon.” Sourcing actual audio from one of the Black Lives Matter protests in his town, Hyper’s mau5trap debut builds impactful tension, unfurling into a cacophony of industrial synth work. Utilizing foreboding instrumentation to masterfully convey feelings of both unrest and empowerment, Hyper’s “Impact Weapon” is both reflective and introspective, all the while coated in unique industrial dance flair.

“Impact Weapon” is the first single from Hyper’s forthcoming Control EP, available on Friday, June 11.

Electro-House, House | Birthdayy Partyy Take On Deadmau5 & Rob Swire With New Remix

Posted by on July 30, 2018

Birthdayy Partyy keeps the heat going strong in 2018 with another amazing remix. Instead of dipping back in time for another throwback, they’ve flipped Deadmau5 and Rob Swire’s “Monophobia” that just came out earlier this month. The twins show undoubtedly why they deserve your attention with this remix. They’ve got a ton of great tracks, but this one sticks out as one of their best. I wouldn’t be surprised if Deadmau5 and Rob themselves give this one some love and praise. It’s that good.

FYI | Why Krewella’s Billboard Op-Ed Missed The Mark

Every blog is talking about it. Earlier today, Jahan of Krewella released an exclusive Op-Ed via Billboard (with an insanely manipulative click-bait title) that addressed the recent lawsuit and breakup of EDM’s crossover supergroup. There real story here isn’t even the personally penned piece. It’s how Jake Udell continues to gain this kind of traction online for his clients, but I digress.

In the beginning of the Op-Ed, Jahan describes Krewella as “the most hated group in the electronic dance music scene” which isn’t far from the truth at the moment. It’s a shame considering their meteoric rise. However, it’s a lesson everyone should understand: perception is reality in the dance space. While the jury is still out on whether the sisters are responsible for pushing Kris out or not (we’re not making any claims either way) they have an image problem and it seems evident Krewella knows this. That’s why they posted this carefully calculated (tone-def) op-ed on Billboard today to quell some of the backlash.

Electro-House, House | Deadmau5 – Strobe (Prince Fox 15K Stock Edit Pack)

Deadmau5 - Strobe (Prince Fox remix)

Prince Fox has been slaying the game recently, and everyone’s been wondering where are all the dope edits he’s been playing on his sets??! Well, to celebrate his recent recognition from fans and the industry, Prince Fox is releasing a “private stock” edit pack for free download to give back. ‘Strobe’ has always been a top favorite of mine since it was reworked by MOTM back in ’10 so it only seems right to share this find with you all. If you love this edit, get the rest of his stock pack for free here.

FYI | Wildstylez Rips Off Deadmau5 “Some Chords”

Posted by on February 21, 2014

Deadmau5

Dutch hardstyle producer Wildstylez (why does every hardstyle producer replace s with z in their name) recently released his tune “Straightfoward”, fitting in its own right, that just takes the chords from Deadmau5’s “Some Chords” and drags and drops them into his own tune. To quote deadmau5, wildstylz did not just take “some chords”, but all of them, in the same order, which makes this as bad as it could possibly be. I would not say this is on the level of will.i.steal, but it is pretty damn close damn close. Deadmau5 can be a prick sometimes, but he also isn’t afraid to speak his mind and going after someone who blatantly copied his song. I would say listen for yourself, but it is so obvious you will hear it the immediately.

Here is a solution. The damage has been done for both sides, bridges burned, images tarnished in the eyes of the other. However out of respect for deadmau5, because this would never go to trial, Wildstylez could pull the tune from iTunes, release it as a free download and credit deadmau5. The track is on his label so he doesn’t have too many hurdles to jump through. This will probably never happen, but I tried.
