Emerging artist Joe Ford, just released one of his monstrous works entitled ‘Frozen Sound’ on the Medschool compilation release ‘New Blood 013’. He caught my attention early this month when I first saw his tracks being shared in the Neurohop scene as well as through Caliber Music. As of late he has been gaining support from some big names, but most notable are KOAN Sound. His tracks are so detailed and unique it makes it hard to not listen to them on repeat. ‘Frozen Sound’ is a mixture of Glitch and Dubstep with some of the most intricate sounds I have seen featured in a track. The combination of the atmosphere and reverb help create a dreamy state through the track as well as an addition emotion. You can follow Joe ford through his social media’s provided below.

There are few films generating the buzz of The Great Gatsby, and its soundtrack is a part of that. Executively produced by Jay-Z, the star-studded soundtrack has contributions from Florence & The Machine, Lana del Rey, Jay-Z, Nero, Gotye and many more. The full preview of Nero’s contribution has been released by Interscope (who is still dealing with the will.i.scam scandal), giving us a peak into their production process that has been quiet of late as they gear up for their first album since 2011 album, “Welcome Reality“.

The cinematic single from the British dubstep trio, “Into The Past”, shows the complex, melodic stylings that have made them one of the hottest dubstep groups today. The combination of emotive strings, female vocals from the third member of the trio, Alana, and a soothing low end, makes this a perfect contribution for the movie from Nero. The entire soundtrack will be released May 7th

Progressive House | Temper Traps – Trembling Hands (Stereoshock Lonely City Remix)

Posted by on April 7, 2013

It’s been a while since we’ve heard something new from Stereoshock but today he made the wait worth while. The song “Trembling Hands” by The Temper Trap has had its fair share of remixes so I was admittedly nervous clicking play on this because there have been some great ones. Stereoshock blew me away with his rendition. He sets the perfect atmosphere with orchestral strings and city sounds as well as a combination of slow piano work and quick, catchy key play, before hitting the percussive build aided with the emotive vocals, and then finally climaxing into a truly cinematic, big room drop. Stereoshock has come a long way since his early days doing edits. His production skills are now just superb. I’m excited for what he has in store for us in the future.

Hip-Hop | mdnt – Dreamcatcher ft. Jez Dior [Music Video]

Posted by on February 26, 2013

The enigmatic artist mdnt introduces himself with his debut single entitled “Dreamcatcher” featuring buzzing artist Jez Dior and production from SmarterChild. mdnt calls his music “Future Soul”, which he describes as a combination of soulful vocals with progressive electronic music. The song is incredible and a great debut from an artist that is definitely one to watch. “Dreamcatcher” is inspired by the passing of mdnt’s grandfather, which you can read more about below.

“My entire life I have been compared to all his positive attributes. He was a brilliant man, but he also possessed a deep well of dark traits that ostracized him from the family and contributed to his death. I had always wanted to talk with him, with the hope that understanding him would help me avoid or control the darker parts that I may possess as well. The video takes my initial insecurities about possessing the dark parts of my grandfather and manifests them in the masked figure terrorizing both Jez and myself.” – mdnt

Exclusive, Moombahton, Videos | The R.O.A.R. – Touchdown [Video + EP]

Posted by on February 1, 2013

NYC-based producer the R.O.A.R. stands at the intersection of rock and moombahton — and it’s a combination that works better than you think. His newest track, “The Touchdown,” melds the wobbly funk of moombahton with some hard-edged vocals and driving drum kicks for a result that’s high energy and sure to get you moving. The full package is out now on Beatport and features remixes that range from trill and trap’t out to groovy and latin-infused (see: Mr. Vega of Sazon Booya’s take). And sure to check out the above video — the visuals match the vibe of the song perfectly.

Marina Harris

“Marina Harris” is a great combination of female vocals with one of Calvin Harris biggest songs “Feel So Close”. It is the 5th track off of DOSVEC’s “Flight 2013” mini-mix album. This track works well anytime of day and gives a new take to Marina & The Diamonds “Lies”

Progressive House | Avicii vs Nicky Romero – I Could Be One

Posted by on December 29, 2012

You know the song by now. The naming saga is about as long as the time it took to get released. It was first premiered by Avicii back in November of last year at the DC Armory and was given the fan name “Fuck School”. After a little while it was given the official name “Nicktim”, a clever combination of both producer’s names. When the vocals were added the track was at last given its final name “I Could Be The One”. I was down on the slightly autotuned vocals at first, but they have slowly grown on me. The track has lost some of the original star power it had when it was first premiered, but the quality is still there and will remain a big, highly played track throughout winter. It also comes with a few remixes and the instrumental mix for those who can’t stand the vocals. I had high hopes for the Audrio, formerly known as Adstedt, as his remix seems to lack the same power that his upcoming track “Humans” has, though it does have the same grungy, acid style. Didrick, a rather mysterious person because as of this writing joined Facebook not 19 hours ago, adds a grinding low end and adds more distortion to the melody and the vocals. The video is rather hilarious as well.
