We here at Fresh New Tracks have been fans of Justin Jay since he put out his very first record, “How Goes The Dynamite,” on dirtybird. That was three years ago, and now, the Dirtybird protege and recent college graduate is ready to spread his wings and soar. Jay’s already been killing it this year, making his debut at The Do Lab at Coachella, with sets at TomorrowWorld, CRSSD Festival, and the Dirtybird Campout on the horizon, and he’s put out a few fan favorites like “Mind Games.” Now, he’s releasing yet another secret weapon for his discography, a collaboration with Chris Lorenzo called “Storm,” and it’s his debut on Black Butter Records – one of the most impressive and renowned record labels from across the pond. Jay’s typical house stylings are left by the wayside for a breakbeat rhythm on this one, and Chris Lorenzo slides right in to infuse the track with his signature basslines and dreamy melody.

Black Butter Records is home to many insanely talented artists like Gorgon City, Kidnap Kid, Rudimental, Clean Bandit, My Nu Leng, and many more. The UK imprint threw a party last month with MATTE, a creative production company, to get the festival season started off right, and I don’t know if it’s the black and white or the tribal-esque track to the video but its clear that these British music titans know how to throw a party. The lineup was overflowing with killer talent. From Kidnap Kid to Jessie Andrews to a special guest appearance by THE GASLIGHT KILLER, attendees were not shorted of high-caliber DJs and the recap video is just a testament to exactly that. Check it out and be sure to be on the look out for the next Black Butter Records party that pop-ups.

Chill, RnB | Joel Compass – Astronaut (Ghost Loft Remix)

Posted by on July 26, 2013

Wow, what a find! UK R&B singer Joel Compass’ latest single “Astronaut” just received a remix treatment by Ghost Loft and it’s impeccable. No other word. I’m out here at the airport, about to catch a plane for some R&R in the South of France, and I feel like I’m already off the ground. This track is a must listen, and it’s a bummer we have to wait till September 2nd for Joel to release this single off his EP Astronaut, but for now we’ll enjoy this SoundCloud stream! And thank you Ghost Loft for that free ticket to space! Look forward to more collaborations from these two dope artists! Reminds me of the vocalist/producer tandem Usher/Diplo…

DO SOMETHING

DJ-Set, Progressive House, Trance | Arty – Together We Are Ep #001 + Preview

Posted by on June 26, 2012

Arty premiered his new weekly radio show on Saturday nights from 1am to 2am this past weekend and it may be early to say, but it looks like it could be one of the better weekly radio shows out there, or will quickly develop into one of them. The mix is better than most radio shows we are seeing from artists these days because not only does it keep the needless chatting down to a minimum and give us the most music possible, but it also has a different track list from the recycled track lists in mix shows we are seeing from prominent DJs. He plays a mixture of new and “old” tracks including upcoming tracks from Inpetto out July 2nd on Doorn Records and Redlight – Lost In Your Love, that have the chance to become very popular. The songs are just as good as your Beatport top 40, but they are just less known, showing that Arty not only is an incredible producer, but also has great taste and skill as a finder of quality music. Another indicator of the success of this radio show is the best pick in Rudimental’s DNB anthem “Feel The Love” that has been massively supported though it has not been released in the States, showing the completeness of the show. Tracklist for the show after the jump.

Another piece of big news coming out of Arty’s camp this week is that the ID (above) he premiered on New Years is going to be called “Together We Are” and will be released this summer. This song is incredible and will be one of the progressive anthem’s for the summer if it is released in time to get some serious festival work.
