Electro-House, Preview | The Aston Shuffle vs Tommy Trash – Sunrise (Won’t Get Lost) [Preview]

Posted by on October 7, 2012

A track that has been staple of Axwell’s sets for some time now plus getting play from Thomas Gold, David Guetta, Arty among others, this Tommy Trash mix of The Aston Shuffle’s number one single on Australian radio “Sunrise” is a song that is going to continue the pedigree of outstanding Axtone releases this year. While it does have a similar bass line as his remix of Ladi Dadi, it is his signature bass line and there are still marked differences in the lead and overall melody of the track. No release date yet, but if the past serves as any indication with Axtone, we should see it released this month. UPDATE: It will be released October 12th.

Electro-House | Hard Rock Sofa & Swanky Tunes – Here We Go

Posted by on July 9, 2012

Hard Rock Sofa and Swanky Tunes and perfect examples of guys who have been slowly plugging away, biding their time until their rise to prominence and after nearly 15 years of making music, growing and evolving along the way, they have finally become two of the premier house assets in the world, putting Russia on the map in terms of house music. “Here We Go” is yet another quality release from Axtone, and from the Russians, with its prominent, growling acid bass line that prevails throughout the track, a rising synth and the “Here We Go” vocal bit. This one has festival written all over it and is awesome live. It has been championed by Swedish House Mafia and is already supported by Nicky Romero, Thomas Gold, Afrojack, David Guetta and more.

Compilation, House, Review | Axtone Presents Thomas Gold

Posted by on May 31, 2012

Axtone not to be outdone by other labels put Thomas Gold to the task of putting together their 2012 compilation filled with Thomas Gold’s impressive discography, most of the releases this year on Axtone and a few other hand picked tracks from Thomas Gold. The 33 song album illustrates the sound and skill of Thomas Gold. Thomas Gold showcases one of his strong suits as a bootleg specialist in this compilation with the plethora of new and unreleased bootlegs in this superbly mixed compilation.

The first disc aptly starts with a new Thomas Gold track “The Beginning” with powerful synth chords, a soft piano melody and a driving bass line. The album then moves through tracks such as the still relevant Hard Rock Sofa – Quasar, Thomas Gold’s 2012 Rework of “Teenage Crime”, a solid rework but Axwell & Henrik B have still yet to be dethroned and a bootleg of “Sing2Me” with Red Carpet – Alright, giving some vocals to his anthem. He picks out Axtone & other major label tracks like “Resurrection”, “Eyes Wide Open“, “Troll“, as well as some of his own remixes and reworks such as “Set Fire to The Rain” (one of the most downloaded tracks in FNT history), and his 2011 rework of “Marsch Marsch” to fill in much of the rest of the first album. The first disc finishes off as it started with another new Thomas Gold original “Fanfare” with its complex bass lines and rhythmic patterns with matching synth chords, bookending this great start to the compilation.

Disc two starts us off with a special intro edit of his 2011 summer anthem “Alive” with Aussie superstar “Dirty South”. It then moves on to an update of one of his first big singles “AGORa” with the vocals from Axwell’s “I Found You”. The second disc is where we really get into the new Thomas Gold remixes and reworks, so be ready to be bombarded by new sounds from Thomas Gold. He then gives us his rework of Sander van Doorn’s anthem “Koko” adding the flavor of the day adding a strong clap to the bass line with changes to the mix and the rhythm, while keeping that instantaneously recognizable melody. We then move through his remix of “Judas”, an unsung remix of 2011 and another unreleased bootleg of his with John Dahlback – Blink and Hard Rock Sofa – Blow Up (Thomas Gold & Axwell Remix). The next original track appears next in the form of “Circles”, a subtle, uplifting piano driven progressive house track. We then get into favorites of the last few months with tracks like “Million Voices“, “In My Mind“, and his important remix of “The Wave” with a new rework of Digitalism – Zdarlight included as well. He finished off the compilation with a few of his older, more low tempo, techy tracks that bring you down after the all energy spent listening to the massive 33 track Axtone compilation.

Per usual Axtone and Thomas Gold exceed expectations. Axtone has been releasing some of the best tracks of the year and Thomas Gold has been improving with each release. This partnership on the compilation is perfect and it shows in the mixing and the tracklist. Tracklist is after the jump and also check out the little competition below where you guess the mashup put together by Thomas Gold for the chance to win a lot of prizes. It is quite easy though if you are really challenged the answer is after the jump.

Compilation, Progressive House | Miike Snow – The Wave (Thomas Gold Remix)

Posted by on May 14, 2012

The Miike Snow remixes keep on coming from big name artists and each one somehow manages to be better than the previous remix. The genius German, Thomas Gold, gives us his take on Miike Snow – The Wave with a varying snare line, Miike Snow’s signature vocals that make them so easy to remix and an addicting, uplifting melody. With the Dirty South remix of Devil’s Work already getting plenty of work in sets all over the world, expect this remix to get much of the same treatment as a summer go to for many Djs during festival season.

Thomas Gold will be mixing the 2 CD, 32 track Axtone compilation to be released May 28th. It will be largely comprised of Thomas Gold tracks because he is mixing the compilation with some exclusive bootlegs of his, including a vocal mix of his number one single “Sing2Me”. It will include new edits and remixes as well as three new original tracks from Thomas Gold, giving us even more work from his extensive studio output. Tracklist after the jump

Progressive House | Henrik B & Rudy – Leave A Light On (Incl NO_ID Remix)

Posted by on April 23, 2012

Finally after being premiered late last year and garnering a massive following from the get go, Henrik B’s masterpiece with Rudy “Leave A Light On” has released with an outstanding remix from the up and coming dutch duo NO_ID. With a chugging bass line, emotional melody with its backbone in the simple yet incredibly effective piano riff and addictive vocals from Rudy that i guarantee will have you belting out “I Said Hey, Will You Leave A Light On For Me” for at least the next week to everyone you see. The NO_ID remix strips down the track to its more more rhythm based core putting more emphasis on the bass line, making the break much more bass oriented and giving it more of a feel of their previous track “How Are You Feeling Right Now”. Axtone’s reign of supremacy this year continues, it can’t get better can it?

DJ-Set, Progressive House | Sebastian Ingrosso Refune Radio #03

Posted by on April 8, 2012

Sebastian Ingrosso is back with the third edition of his world renowned podcast Refune Radio. It is the WMC edition so he actually plays a part of his own live set from the Refune night at Amnesia on Saturday night during WMC. He plays a section of Swanky Tunes’ set from the Refune night as well, which includes their collaboration with Tiesto, to be released on April 24th on Club Life – Volume 2 Miami, “Sending My Love”, the massive “Roll The Dice” and the anthemic Third Party remix of “Otherside”. Seb provides a very good set with songs you would expect from him and of course unveiling a new track, the Thomas Gold remix to “Miike Snow’s “The Wave”, which will be released soon on Axtone. Miike Snow tracks are a favorite of house producers and the remixes are usually quite good and Thomas Gold lives up the high expectations with this one. He also adds unreleased gems such as “Atom”, to be released tomorrow and “Metropolis” to be released on Wednesday.
He talks about Miami and some of his experiences there including going to various parties in Miami and meeting all sorts of Djs out including Afrojack at dinner where he got his new number, which is apparently harder to get than a private jet, and the Dj soccer game between Netherlands and Sweden, which Netherlands won 13-11. Tracklist after the jump.

Progressive House | Thomas Gold – Sing2Me

Posted by on March 26, 2012

After being first previewed by Axwell on the first edition of Swedish House Mafia’s BBC Radio One Takeover back in September, “Sing2Me” from the German master Thomas Gold has been one of the most wanted tracks in the realm of house. The vocal bit moves perfectly with the melody created by the impeccable piano work. The alternating bass line tops this whole thing off creating a sense of pure euphoria. I don’t know about you but I think there should be a “Pete Tong Welcome to the Weekend Mix” because it just does not sound right without that shout in there. Also have you noticed the releases on Axtone this year, “In My Mind“, “Quasar“, “Trio” and now “Sing2Me”, this label is putting out only anthems. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for Axtone with Henrik B ft Rudy “Leave A Light On” and more coming, their dominance should prevail through 2012. You can also get a free “Sing2Me” ringtone from Axtone’s Facebook page to replace your old “By Me a Drink” or “Sexyback” or whatever the kids are using these days for ringtones. Be hip and get a cool EDM ringtone for free from Axtone.
