Progressive House | Marcus Schössow – Reverie (Michael Calfan Remix)

Posted by on August 17, 2013

Marcus Schössow - Reverie (Michael Calfan Remix)Axtone has been busy towards the end of this summer. They have released the original mix of “Reverie” and “Starlight (Could You Be Mine)”, while also previewing the CLMD remix of Discopolis “Committed to Sparkle Motion” (coming on Monday) and revealing info on releases from Axwell, Otto Knows, Thomas Gold & Kryder. Michael Calfan has a strong history with remixes, taking tracks like “Shewolf” and “Momentum” and eliciting their full potential. With this one, the Frenchman keeps much of the essence of the original, while injecting vocal chants and mixes up the timing of the drop with added melodic elements. Look for more from Axtone as the label seems to only getting started as Axwell, like Steve Angello, shows life post-SHM. Your move Seb.

Progressive House | Marcus Schossow – Reverie

Marcus Schossow - ReverieIt was only a matter of time before Marcus Shossow got his due. He has been on the cusp for quite some time now with several successful releases on his own Tone Diary label, but in 2013 he saw his breakthrough with “Liceu” on Steve Angello’s Size Records and “Reverie” got him signed to the Axtone family. The track is built around a long, dreamy build that defies the normal 2-2 dance music composition with a dark, brooding, powerful and complex drop, combining searing guitars and impossibly punchy bass with well timed growls. This track has all the makings to be one of the best Axtone releases of the year and possibly stand as one of the best big room tracks in 2013. Look for a Michael Calfan remix later in the summer.

His live sets are always some of the best mainstage material, with impeccable mixing and his signature mashups that keep you on your toes at all times. He has become a favorite of Axwell and Axtone’s, recently putting together the Axtone 2012 compilation that featured plenty of his own material, new and old, in addition to showing off the label’s impressive recent discography, while also dusting off a critically acclaimed Essential Mix to finish off 2012. He has been a cornerstone of recent festivals such as UMF, Coachella & EDC New York and has taken his Fanfare tour all across the globe. He will be at Tomorrowland, for all you lucky festival goers who snuck in there in during the one second sellout. Preview, Progressive House | Sebjak & Marcus Schossow – Liceu (Preview)

Posted by on April 12, 2013

Marcus Shossow & Pierce Fulton - Liceu

First premiered by Thomas Gold on his Fanfare radio show, the widely anticipated 102nd Size Records release “Liceu” is officially previewed, as the label continues its 1 to 100 celebration. Marcus Schossow has caught the eye of 2 members of the Swedish House Mafia, having inked a deal with Axwell’s Axtone label, with a release forthcoming, and also through this collaboration with fellow Swede, Sebjak. which received the approval of Steve Angello, and earned them a release on Size Records. Sebjak has also been putting his name out there with a string of high profile remixes for the likes of CLMD and Tritonal. With prominent booming horns and a bouncy drum line, the track is a unique breath of fresh air in a climate where many minimal festival cuts seem to be relying on the same formula. “Liceu” has already been making its way into many DJs sets, and with its release fast approaching on April 29th, you can only expect the number to grow.

Progressive House | Hard Rock Sofa – Rasputin

Posted by on March 11, 2013

Making their return to Axwell’s Axtone Records, Russian duo Hard Rock Sofa dole out another hard hitting festival cut sure to make waves in Miami. “Rapsutin” is centered around a slow building churching low end with rapid fire percussion and an ominous interlude, leading into the percussive drop. “Rasputin” is the latest in the recent trend of hard hitting, minimal percussive tracks like “Wakanda“, “Hit It” and going back to “Epic”. It is interesting to see the direction Axtone has taken with their first two releases of the year and it will be something to watch throughout the rest of the year with Axwell striking it solo as the official SHM breakup looms in just 2 weeks.

Progressive House | Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike – Wakanda

Posted by on February 4, 2013

On this packed music Monday comes a surprise from Axtone who have decided to release their single from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike “Wakanda” a week early and no one is complaining. The gregarious Belgian Djs are coming off of a banner year and after the release of “Madness” last week they look to top 2012 with an even better 2013. As a reference to a fictitious African country in the Marvel comic “Black Panther”, “Wakanada” mixes tribal influences with their high energy sound found in the heart pounding four on the floor bass line, heavy kick and driving synths. Expect to hear this early and often as a contender for one of the tracks of WMC, especially after already being championed by the likes of SHM & Thomas Gold.
