Producer / Dj duo Bassjackers have teamed up with hot in demand Revealed Records producer, Dyro, fresh off of his Canadian bus tour with Hardwell & Dannic on “Grid”. This melodic yet uptempo and grungy electro track is a unique melding of both big room and electro house that relies on the quick key play and a complex low end. “Grid” combines styles from both producers and gives us something in both of their discographies, where Dyro’s sound is something he can hang his hat on, but has become a little repetitive of late and Bassjackers has not had a really big single like this one in a while. Already supported by your pick of the top Djs, expect to hear this often over the next few months.

Dubstep, Electro-House, Preview | Skrillex – Puppy

Posted by on February 18, 2013

Well it seems that Skrillex may have an album coming this Summer. It is about time he started to make releases from his massive vault of tracks. The video is a commercial for G-Star Denim, which features the first known single that may or may not be a part of the album. “The Art of RAW,” (clearly a play on words of the book, “The Art of War”), is described by Skrillex as a blend of Electro-House, Dubstep, and fidget. An interesting blend for sure, I am happy that I actually enjoy this clip. The “Bangarang EP” was boring in my opinion, it baffles me that Skrillex managed to pull a Grammy from the title single. A creatively wild track such as this only leaves me wondering if an album would be all that we have been hoping for over the past 2 years. At this point it’s hard to say, and just as Skrillex has stated LPs in the past, this Summer could end up another disappointment. I’m sure there is just a lot of confusion between his upcoming Dog Blood releases and his new project with Diplo and A-Trak.

Edit: Well, it turns out that the track is not called “The Art of Raw” but is in fact named “Puppy”.

Electro-House | Jacob Van Hage & Oliver Heldens – Thumper

Posted by on February 13, 2013

Fellow Rotterdam natives, Jacob van Hage & newcomer Oliver Heldens collab on the aptly named “Thumper”. The two Dutchmen create a booming track of thunderous bass and bombastic synth play in the style that W&W has perfected with slow building ominous breaks. The track has already gained support from some of the biggest names in the game like W&W, Gareth Emery, Ferry Corsten, Zedd & Thomas Gold. Jacob van Hage looks to follow up a solid 2012 with tracks like “EMP” and releases such as “Thumper” are a promising start to the year for himself and Oliver Heldens. Also check out below “Thumper” intermingled with the vocals from Dj From Mars “Phatt Ass Drop” that fits perfectly, showing them making fun of themselves.

Two Door Cinema Club - Next Year (Shields Remix)Sometimes it is the poppy tracks that really hit the spot. Shields was asked by Two Door Cinema Club to remix this track from their recent album “Beacon.” Two Door Cinema Club is an over-remixed group, which is why it was so surprising that i actually enjoyed this remix. Sweet track to add to the weekend playlist.
