TONG Keeps It Real With Upbeat House Single ‘Is It Real?’

Posted by on February 5, 2025

Hailing from China but now firmly planted in Los Angeles, TONG isn’t here to play it safe. Her style thrives on contrast complete with house grooves meet dancefloor adrenaline, familiar sounds twist into fresh mutations. With a knack at putting a completely refreshed feel on the tracks she takes on, her efforts have landed her a major break in 2022 when she flipped Matroda’s “Gimme Some Keys” into a remix that won the EDC Orlando Discovery Project. This is where more industry heads began to take notice.

Labels like Insomniac, Hexagon, and Toolroom have backed her releases, pushing her onto bigger platforms. By 2024, she doubled down, taking home the top spot in the Toolroom Remix competition and dropping an official remix for Essel. Whether she’s crafting originals or flipping tracks into club weapons, her catalog keeps growing, and so does her reach.

Her latest release, “Is It Real”, out on Funky Rabbit, is a house-heavy roller with a mischievous side. Packed with the bounce of 90s hip-hop, it struts along a tight tech-house drum kit, a punchy bassline, and vocal chops that know how to flirt with the groove. The result is a track that DJs can drop at peak time, but one that lingers in your head long after the night’s last call.
